Lynne Cassinari opened the meeting at 7:32 PM with the news that she has resigned from
the council due to family obligations. Lynne will continue in an advisory capacity and Peggy
Caouette was voted acting chairperson through the summer.
The minutes of the March tenth meeting were read and accepted.
The Treasurer's report was explained and accepted. Catherine said that the RCC allotment
from the State has now been credited to our account. It had been in some other Town
account since January, and she will try to have the appropriate interest credited. Old funds
dating back to 2010 and 2011 will be transferred to the current year for accounting
purposes.
Nancy Snow presented the results from the Community Survey which reflect a more
positive image of the Cultural Council than existed three years ago. Congratulations to
Nancy for a job well done.
Our discussion of the survey prompted several possible action items:
1. Announce RCC funded programs on the Town website
2. List grantees and the dates of their projects in the Community Connection (town)
3. Place a "save the date" notice about the grant applications in Community Connection
(Colleen)
4. Ask supported groups to "like" RCC on Facebook
5. Contact The Patch and ask them to "like" RCC on Facebook (Catherine)
6. Announce /advertise the upcoming grant process to organizations and PTO's
7. Invite potential members to attend a Council meeting
We will discuss how to proceed with these items at our next meeting.
Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes
Peggy presented a plan to use a sign on the Common notice board to advertise the grant
application period. She will have the sign made and the council approved ninety dollars for
the sign painter. The sign will be displayed 9/29 to 10/13.
Members were notified they should receive a notice from the Town asking if they will return
to the council.
We will host a reception May 22 at 7:30 at RCN to bring together the grantees from this
year and last year. Eileen will take charge of the invitations and Peggy will coordinate the
planning.
The next meeting will be May 22 at 6:30 prior to the reception at RCN on Main Street.
The meeting adjourned at 8:37 P.M.
