Members - Not Present: Ray Porter, member Others Present: Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Ron D'Addario Topics of Discussion: Agenda Item: Review and approve minutes of recent meetings, Approved Friend and family Day: Available to attend: Ray, David, Ron, Michele (part of the day) and Laurie Ann Theme: Preparedness for disasters. We will concentrate on emergency preparedness kits for families. What should be included in such a kit? What should we pack if we receive an evacuation order? Game: Perhaps we could devise some kind of guessing game for which items should be included in such a kit. The game could be for kids and / or for adults. Fire Chief: Ron will contact him since the chief is our Emergency Management Director. Joan will let the Lion's Club know that we will attend F& F Day. Report on recent events: Bike swap successful: Joan reported, about 50 or 60 bikes traded. Classroom presentation: went well, Gina, David, and Ron. They gave their presentation to two of Jen Cambra's classes at Reading Memorial High School. Washington trip, Ron said that his trip was successful. The rally was called Reject and Protect and included both Native Americans and ranchers from the Midwest who wished to stop the Keystone XL pipeline. Page i 1 2013 -C9 -03 Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes RMLD, LED street light project, Joan wondered if the committee could help with a grant project. How can we push solar for the RMLD? Joan spoke with David Talbot on the issue. Laurie Ann said that RMLD put in their application for the LED program. Three vendors have come to do several LED street light demonstrations. Peak Load Reduction: How can we reduce electrical demand on peak days? How we can contact people to let them know that we need to reduce our peak electrical load. Michele will find out if the police can take our cell phone numbers to be used for a reverse 911 call. Laurie Ann Sylvia will ask the RMLD if they would use the reverse 911 to help with peak loads. Energy efficiency position is still open. Library building meeting for the new addition and renovation. David Williams attended the meeting- Mr. Huggins is the facility manager, and Mr. Stepler is consultant for the energy portion of the library facility. Dave said that the committee would have access to the building plans. Parking was the main concern of those attending the meeting. Recycle Bin: Joan sent an e-mail to Jean Delios concerning a recycle bin at the M.F. Charles parking lot; we are awaiting her reply. Committee Chair: How do we handle it? Can we get creative?
