To either of the constables of the Town of Reading, Greetings:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to
'err notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Reading qualified to vote in elections
and town affairs to meet at the Reading Memorial High School, 62 Oakland Road in
said Reading, on Monday, February 25, 1985, at seven - thirty o'clock in the evening to
act on the following articles:
ARTICLE 1. To hear and act on the reports of the Board of Selectmen, Town
Accountant, Treasurer, Collector of Taxes, Board of Assessors, Board of Public Works,
Town Clerk, Tree Warden, Board of Health, School Committee, Contributory
Retirement Board, Library Trustees, Municipal Light Board, Finance Committee,
Cemetery Trustees, Planning Board, and any other Board or Special Committees.

ARTICLE 2. To choose all other necessary Town Officers and Special
Committees and determine what instructions shall be given Town Officers and Special
Committees.

ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will vote to name the area now commonly
known as the Birch Meadow Baseball Field as the Newell H. Morton Field and to see
what sum the Town will raise by borrowing or transfer from available funds or
%"" otherwise and appropriate for the erection of a suitable name plate or other, said sum
to be expended under the direction of the Recreation Committee, or take any other
action with respect thereto.

ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote to amend the Capital Outlay Plan, as
provided for in Article III, Section 11 of the By -laws of the Town, as adopted at the
Subsequent Town Meeting of November 1984, or take any other action with respect
thereto.

ARTICLE 5. To see what sum the Town will raise by borrowing, or from the
tax levy, or transfer from available funds, or otherwise and appropriate for the
purpose of conducting a special hazardous household waste collection, said sum to be
expended under the direction of the Hazardous Waste Committee, or take any other
action with respect thereto.

r.. ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen,
upon written request, LUBE 495 Realty Trust, to convey and /or abandon a certain
drainage and sewerage easement in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts,
situated along the northerly side lotline of Assessors plat 53, lot 25A, dated January,
1979, and as shown on a plan entitled "Easement Through Private Property for
Drainage and Sewerage Purposes - Ash Street ", dated October 19, 1963, and recorded
with Middlesex South District Registry of Deeds, Book 10382, Page 473, said easement
having been taken by the Town of Reading by instrument entitled "Order of Taking ",
dated October 14, 1963, recorded at Middlesex South District Registry of Deeds, Book
10382, Page 473; and to see what minimum amount is to be paid to the Town for such
conveyance or abandonment; and to see what else the Town will do relative thereto.

Warrant Special Town Meeting

ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to transfer the care, custody,
management and control of all or any part of the following described land and
buildings thereon, from the Board of Selectmen and /or the School Committee of the
Town of Reading to the Reading Housing Authority for future housing purposes, or
take any other action with respect thereto.
The land at the intersection of Grandview Road, Waverly Road
and Oakland Road shown as Lots 103 to 110, inclusive, on Board of Assessors Plat 123,
being a portion of the premises formerly assessed to John D. Landers and taken by
Taking dated December 23, 1933, recorded on February 13, 1934 at the Middlesex
South District Registry of Deeds in Book 5791, Page 523.

ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will vote to authorize, empower, and instruct
the Board of Selectmen to sell and convey to one or more purchasers all or any portion
of land located on the Northeasterly side of John Street in Reading, Middlesex County,
Massachusetts, being shown on Reading Assessors' Map 68 as Parcels 6, 7 and 8 and on
Reading Assessors' Map 57 as Parcels 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 (excepting that
49,169 square foot portion previously conveyed to Thomas L. and Rose M. McManus),
and to specify the minimum amount to be paid for such conveyance, and to authorize
the Board of Selectmen to deliver a deed or deeds therefor to said purchaser or
purchasers; and to see what sums the Town will raise by borrowing or transferring
from available funds or otherwise and appropriate to the Board of Selectmen to carry
out the purposes of this vote; or what it will do in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 9. To see what sum the Town will raise by borrowing, or transfer
from available funds, or otherwise, and appropriate to the Planning Board for the
purpose of hiring consultants to study and formulate a plan for the comprehensive
development of the John Street industrial land area, or take any other action with
respect thereto.

ARTICLE 10. To see what sum the Town will raise by borrowing or from the tax
levy or transfer from available funds, or otherwise, and appropriate for the purpose of
constructing a new Public Works facility, including the cost of original furnishings and
equipment, engineering and architectural fees, inspection fees, relocation costs,
contingencies and related facilities incidental thereto and necessary in connection
therewith, and to see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Public Works to
file applications for a grant or grants to be used to defray all or any part of the costs
of said Public Works facility and related matters, or take any other action with
respeact thereto.

ARTICLE 11. To see what sum the Town will raise by borrowing, or transfer
from available funds, or otherwise, and appropriate for the purpose of satisfying the
Town's municipal space needs through renovating, modifying or adding to the Town
Hall /Old Library complex located on Lowell Street, including costs of construction,
remodeling, reconstructing or making extraordinary repairs to the same, originally
equipping and furnishing, costs of architectural, engineering and construction services,
costs of financing in connection therewith and any other related costs, and that said
funds shall be expended by and under the direction of the Municipal Space Building
Committee, and to see if the Town will authorize said Municipal Space Building
Committee to enter into any and all contracts and agreements necessary therefor and
incidental thereto, including, without limitation, contracts for architectural,
engineering and construction services and to proceed with all other acts and things
necessary or proper for carrying out the provisions of this article, or take any other
action with respect thereto.

ARTICLE 12. To see if the Town will vote to transfer the care, custody,
management and control of the land, or any portions thereof as shown on Town of
Reading, Board of Assessors' Plat 13 as Lots 39, 40 and 49 which constitute a portion
of what is commonly known as the Town of Reading Bear Hill Site from the Board of
Public Works, Town of Reading, to the Board of Selectmen, or take any other action
with respect thereto.

And you are directed to serve this Warrant by posting an attested copy thereof in at
least three (3) public places in each precinct of the Town not less than fourteen (14) days
prior to February 25, 1985, the date set for the meeting in said Warrant, and to publish this
Warrant in a newspaper published in the Town or by mailing an attested copy of said Warrant
to each Town Meeting Member at least fourteen (14) days prior to the time of holding said
meeting.
Hereof fail not and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon to the
Town Clerk at or before the time appointed for said meeting.
