presentation at our next meeting.
Laurie Ann gave us a preview of our PP presentation to the Selectmen on March 181H
She has done a great job on the project and is near completion. The committee
worked on priontizin our ro'ect slide for this year. This list will be one of the final
slides of the PP. , the town manager's
administrator, and. to hw; c�mmitt at least one week in advance of the
presentation. The last slide will publicize our Earth Day event on April 5tH
We will also give our Adaptation Report to the selectmen at the conclusion of our
presentation. We will agree to meet with them after they read the report. At that
meeting, we could determine if the selectmen would like the climate committee to
work on several recommendations from the report.
The committee discussed the possibility of an electric car charging station at the
depot or at one of the town parking lots and the south Main project that would
include bike lanes and trees.

kv Earth Day: Michele presented her various purchases for kids that included
compasses, magnifying glasses, and shoot the disc launchers among others. The
committee discussed the various children activities that included, a scavenger hunt,
a compass walk (orienteering), a recycle race, a shoot the disc marksmanship
contest and construction of a bird - feeder. Gina sugg ested a white bin for textiles.
• A deserving Reading resident will receive our second Green Leadership Award.
• Laurie Ann will have flyers available at the RMLD.
• Michele will bring flyers to town hall, the library, etc.

■ Joan praised Ron for his help in putting together our Climate Adaptation Report. Ron
replied that the report was truly a group effort with major contributions from David
and Joan as co- writers or the report and with outstanding editing from Gina and
Michele. The report represents the essence of a "group effort ". [Few committees
could equal this group effort.]

• Gina will speak to a Girl Scout group consisting of four girls on one of the following
dates, March 21, 22, 28 or 29. The scouts are seeking to complete the requirements
for a merit badge. Gina also suggested that perhaps the girls could do a project.
• Laurie Ann has contacted a hair salon in Reading that has saved many kilowatt hours
by switching a number of incandescent light bulbs to LEDs. She received a financial
incentive from MassSaves to receive 56 LED bulbs for only $382, a huge savings.
She reduced her kWh usage by almost one half. From December 2012, 1400 kWhs
( ?) to December 21013, 750 kWhs. Her salon is a great candidate for our Green
Business Award.
• Bike swap: Betsy Schneider will come to our next meeting to discuss this year's
bike swap. Ray will be a major hel . He will sign -up experienced
bike techs who will inspect the bikes and make small repairs as necessary.
• March 12th at 6 p.m. Ron and Mike will meet with representative from Keolis
Commuter Services, responsible for Commuter Rail.
