Parker Junior High School Auditorium May 14, 1979 The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, John W. Faria, at 8:00 P. M. The invocation was given by the Rev. P. Dale Neufer of the Old South United Methodist Church, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. ARTICLE 9. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that the sum of Forty - Seven Thousand Dollars ($47,000.) be raised from the tax levy and appropriated to the Law Committee as follows, each item to be considered a separate appropriation: Legal Services (Fees) Legal Services (Expenses) $45,000. 2,000. ARTICLE 9. The following motion was presented by James J. Sullivan, Jr.: Moved that the sum of One Hundred Twenty -One Thousand Four Hundred Eleven Dollars ($121,411) be raised from the tax levy and appropriated to Building Maintenance as follows, each item to be considered a separate appropriation Salaries $50,298 Expense 71,113 with the following motion to amend presented by Donald E. Trudeau: Moved that the sum of One Hundred Thirteen Thousand Four Hundred Eleven Dollars ($113,411.) be raised from the tax levy and appropriated to Building Maintenance as follows, each item to be considered a separate appropriation: Salaries $50,298 Expense 63,113 On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that this meeting stand adjourned until after the Special Town Meeting scheduled for this time. Meeting adjourned at 8:29 P.M. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING W. S. Parker Junior High School Auditorium May 14, 1979 The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, John W. Faria. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted to lay Article 1 on the table. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted to lay Article 2 on the table. ARTICLE 3. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that the Town authorize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning July 1, 1979, in accordance with the provisions of the General Laws Chapter 44, Section 4, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with the General Laws, Chapter 44, Section 17, or take any other action with respect thereto. ARTICLE 4. On motion of John W. Price it was voted that the Town, pursuant to the provisions of General Laws Chapter 40, Sections 4 and 4A authorize the Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading whether acting pursuant to the authority of any General Law or Special Law to enter into and execute an agreement or agreements upon such terms and conditions as the Board of Public Works in its sole discretion shall determine with the City of Woburn for the construction of sewers, sewerage systems and sewerage treatment and disposal facilities, for making connections thereto, and for the collection, treatment and disposal of sewerage for a period not exceeding thirty years, including providing for the construction of an interceptor sewer connecting the Town of Reading with the City of Woburn municipal sewerage system to be located in the Town of Reading and the City of Woburn 144 Special Town Meeting May 14, 1979 ARTICLE 5. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that the sum of Twenty - Three Thousand Dollars ($23,000) be transferred from the School Settlement Account (Receipts Reserved for Appropriation) and appropriated to the School Construction Commit- tee to be expended by and under their direction. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted to take Article 2 from the table. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that Article 2 be indefinitely postponed. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted to take Article 1 from the table. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that Article 1 be indefinitely postponed. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that this meeting stand adjourned sine die. Meeting adjourned at 10:24 P. M. A true copy. Attest: Lawrence Drew Town Clerk Adjourned Annual Town Meeting May 14, 1979 The meeting was reconvened by the Moderator, John W. Faria, at 10:25 P.M. ARTICLE 9. On motion of William C. Brown it was voted to lay the last motion, with the motion to amend, on the table. ARTICLE 9. On motion of Maureen T. O'Brien it was voted that the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) be raised from the tax levy and appropriated for Police and Fire Indemnification. ARTICLE 9. On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that the sum of Two Hundred Eighty -Two Thousand Five Hundred Thirty Dollars ($282,530) be transferred from the Federal Revenue (P.L.92 -512) to the Police Department Salaries, and that the sum of Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($12,500) be transferred from Article 6 of the Adjourned Annual Town Meeting of May, 1976, and that Three Thousand Twenty -Four Dollars and twenty cents ($3,024.20) be transferred from Article 35 of the Adjourned Annual Town Meeting of June 8, 1978, and that the sum of Seven Hundred Three Thousand Three Hundred Ninety -Nine Dollars and eighty cents ($703,399.80) be raised from the tax levy and that said sums totalling One Million One Thousand Four Hundred Fifty -Four Dollars ($1,001,454) be appropriated to the Police Department as follows, each item being considered a separate appropriation. Salaries (P.L. 92 -512 Authorized) $282,530 Salaries 630,132 Expense 67,792 Cruiser Replacement 21,000 On motion of James J. Sullivan, Jr. it was voted that this meeting stand adjourned to meet at 8:00 P. M. on Thursday, May 17th, 1979, at the W. S. Parker Junior High School Auditorium. Meeting adjourned at 11:10 P.
