Old Business:
Administrator discussed taking a photograph of the current Board members at the January
meeting with the goal of uploading it to the website. Board discussed need to update the
photograph on a regular basis and as necessary.
Administrator gave a power point presentation to the Board and provided the Board with an
outstanding overview of Reading's Elder Services and all of its components.
A motion was made by Tom Procoppio to reimburse Jane Burns from the Burbank Fund
$44.97 for the purchase of the November and December birthday cakes. The motion was
2"d by Kevin Walsh. The motion passed with 8 -0 in favor.
Administrator discussed the need for a Board member to volunteer to pick up the monthly
birthday cake and deliver it to the Pleasant Street Senior Center on the day of the birthday
celebration. Steve Oston and Margaret Havey volunteered.
Administrator reviewed Thanksgiving meal deliveries and commented that Board member
Margaret Havey did an outstanding job of notifying the Administrator of a senior in a
dangerous situation of which her family was unaware. The issue was able to be resolved
due to the Board members actions.

Administrator asked the Board for volunteers to deliver the Christmas meals. Pick -up is on
December 24th at 11am at Market Basket. Steve Oston, Tom Procoppio and Kevin Walsh
volunteered.
New Business:
Administrator reviewed (and provided the Board with a copy of) the Remote Participation
Policy now currently in effect for all town Boards.
The Board discussed potential new Spring events. Administrator suggested a Saint Patrick's
Day lunch /dinner, a pancake breakfast, providing transportation to the Flower and Garden
Show at the Seaport World Trade Center in March of 2014. The Board agreed that a corn
beef boiled lunch or dinner was a great idea as well as funding transportation to the Flower
and Garden Show. (Seniors would buy their tickets for $16 but have their transportation
provided at no cost.) The Board discussed the possibility of funding the new Spring events
from the Patrons for Older Adults Fund. Administrator stated that she would obtain quotes
for both the Irish lunch /dinner and transportation to the Flower and Garden Show and the
Board would discuss the options at the January meeting.
Kevin Walsh reviewed RCN events and reminded the Board that ten productions related to
seniors were filmed, are timeless, and are currently rotating on RCTV. The productions can
be viewed on Channel 9 for Comcast and Channel 31 for Verizon customers.
Adjournment: 8:20 PM
