HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-07-09 School Committee Minutes1 -10 READING PUBLIC SCHOOLS READING, MASSACHUSETTS SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING REGULAR SESSION MINUTES JULY 9, 1990 CALL TO ORDER Chairman Stan Nissen called the regular session of School Committee to order in the Conference Room of the Administration Offices at 7:31 p.m. All members were present with the exception of James Nally. Also present were Superintendent Robert J. Munnelly, Assistant Superintendent Lynn M. Bak, and Business Manager Warren Hopkins, Building Principals and Director of Pupil Personnel Services, and a reporter from the Chronicle. PERSONNEL ACTION On the recommendation of the Administration: Carol Lyons moved to appoint Kathleen Nelson as SEEM teacher at Reading Memorial High School_. George Shannon seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. LONG RANGE PLAN DISCUSSION Dr. Munnelly opened the session talking about the need to continue our long range planning effort. Chair Nissen added that this session should be framed with some structure and goal in mind. Discussion continued with School Committee members and district Administrators focusing on district direction and impact of fiscal restraints. The session came to a close with stration come back to the School priority activities and issues. to seek out public opinion in the community for input and opinions the Reading Public School System.
