SCHOOL COMMITTEE MINUTES
REGULAR SESSION MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER
JANUARY 14, 1991
Chairman Stan Nissen called the regular session of the School Com-
mittee to order in Reading Memorial High School's Auditorium at
8:55 p.m. All members were present with the exception of Mary
Williams. Also present were Superintendent Robert J. Munnelly,
Assistant Superintendent Lynn M. Bak, and Business Manager Warren
Hopkins.
MINUTES
Barbara Philbrick moved to accept the regular session minutes as
ammended from January 2, 1991. Carol Lyons seconded the motion.
The vote was unanimous.
BILLS AND PAYROLLS
BILLS
There was no warrant for Bills.

The warrant for Payrolls was as follows:
January 18, 1991
CITIZEN'S INPUT
Biweekly - $109,284.18
There was no citizen's input.
OTHER
Chairman Nissen shared with the School Committee members the need
that they will have to discuss a possible budget that is tied to
the resources generated from a trash fee that has been proposed by
Selectmen Ensminger. Chairman Nissen added that he would speak
for the School Committee in support of the Level Service Budget
when the School Committee meets with the Board of Selectmen on
January 17, 1991, and the School Committee meeting scheduled for
January 22 will focus on the results of the Selectmen's session.

NEW BUSINESS
"REACH FOR THE STARS" - GRANT PROPOSAL
On the recommendation of the Administration:
JANUARY 14, 1991
George Shannon moved that the School Committee approve the submis-
sion of Parker Middle School's grant "Reach for the Stars" as
outlined on enclosure 2a. Carol Lyons seconded the motion
Discussion followed. The vote was unanimous.
OTHER
NEXT MEETING
Dr. Munnelly shared the enclosure from Reading Memorial High
School Principal Mark Piechota regarding proposed anti - smoking
rules that will be discussed by high school students at the
January 22nd School Committee meeting.
The Superintendent added that a discussion needs to take place on
how to address the unsuccessful vote for school building additions,
including the short and long range alternatives.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion to adjourn was made by George Shannon at 9:15 p.m. Carol
Lyons seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.
