HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-08-06 School Committee MinutesREADING PUBLIC SCHOOLS Reading, Massachusetts SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING REGULAR SESSION MINUTES AUGUST 6, 1993 CALL TO ORDER Chair Roberta D'Antona called the regular School Committee session to order at 4 p.m. in the Superintendent's Conference Room. All members were present with the exception of George Shannon and Susan Cavicchi. Superintendent Robert J. Munnelly was also present. ROUTINE MATTERS BILLS AND PAYROLLS The warrant for Bills were as follows: June 30, 1993 - Bills - $ - 3,427.30 July 12, 1993 - Bills - $ 5,768.08 July 19, 1993 - Bills - $ 1,045.00 July 26, 1993 - Bills - $ 182,279.30 August 2, 1993 - Bills - $ 62,101.87 August 9, 1993 - Bills - $ 31,207.83 The warrant for Payrolls were as follows: July 2, 1993 - Biweekly - $ 2,084.80 July 16, 1993 - Biweekly - $ 45,847.16 July 30, 1993 - Biweekly - $ 45,822.41 July 9, 1993 - Teachers - $ 126,881.17 July 23, 1993 - Teachers - $ 140,004.82 NEW BUSINESS ASBESTOS REMOVAL School Committee asked questions about waiving of non - statutory bid requirements. The architect David Finney was consulted by phone and advised that waiving of Bidder Qualification Statement a non - statuatory requirement is in line with Massachusetts Inspector General Guideline and Statute (Ch. 149, 5.44.) The School Committee on a motion by Matthew Cummings, seconded by Timothy Twomey, voted 4 -0 to waive the Bidder Qualification Statement for this Asbestos Removal Project. Then, Matthew Cummings moved to award the Asbestos Abatement Project for Joshua Eaton and Birch Meadow Schools to the lowest bidder, Suburban Middlesex for the Base Bid of $110,090 REGULAR SESSION MINUTES 2 AUGUST 6, 1993 and Alt -1 of $4,800. Timothy Twomey seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. COMPUTER EQUIPMENT - READING MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL Matthew Cummings moved to award the Computer Equipment bid for Reading Memorial High School to the lowest bidder, C & J Consulting for the amount of $35,937. Timothy Twomey seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. ADJOURN At 4:40 p.m. Matthew Cummings moved to adjourn to executive session for the purpose of discussing union and non -union bargaining.
