SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING
REGULAR SESSION MINUTES JUNE 6, 1995
CALL TO ORDER
Chair Timothy Twomey called the regular school committee meeting to
order at 6:00 in the Superintendent's Conference Room. All members
were present except Mrs. D'Antona who arrived at 6:30. Also
present was Interim Superintendent Dennis Richards.
BILLS
The warrants for bills and payrolls were as follows:
June 5, 1995 - Bills - $ 10,421.11
The warrants for payrolls were as follows:
June 2, 1995 - Biweekly - $ 125,704.32
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Richards mentioned that he met today with the SEEM
Collaborative to discuss SEEM issues.
Then there was discussion regarding the format of the status of
appropriation reports. Mr. Stohlman feels the report should
contain more information.
There was discussion about the link between the Town Accountant and
the School Committee. Mr. Spadafora requested a copy of the
agreement/ contract describing the relationship. Mrs. Cavicchi
spoke of having a Grant Writer and a Business Manager. She stated
that she did not appreciate hearing about the budget shortfall from
someone outside the School Committee.
Interim Superintendent Richards distributed School Department
Financial Management Sheets at the beginning of the meeting.
Mr. Stohlman mentioned that if the items listed on the sheets were
put into practice, there would be no surprises.
A member asked if the Individual Ed plans could all be done at the
end of the year. Mr. Richards explained that there are too many to
do all at once. All of the testing and evaluations take time. The
parents have to agree as well. The Individual Ed plans are
staggered throughout the year.

The Committee agreed Christine Cerretani should chair the June 16,
1995 School Committee Meeting. Dennis Richards will contact her.
Mr. Stohlman stated that Kendra Cooper called him pertaining to the
laws of public meeting. At this point Mr. Richards left the
meeting, Mr. Twomey left a few minutes later.
The discussion turned to the hiring of a new Superintendent.
For the record the School Committee members were asked to list in
order their preferences for the Superintendent Candidates. The
results were as follows:
Mr. Cummings: Mr. Richards, Dr. Krewer, Dr. Harutunian,
Dr. Patterson, Dr. Kohn, Mr. Lengieza.
Mrs. D'Antona: Dr. Patterson, Dr. Harutunian, Dr. Krewer,
Mr. Richards, Mr. Lengieza, Dr. Kohn.
Mr. Twomey: Dr. Harutunian, Dr. Krewer, Mr. Richards,
Dr. Patterson, Mr. Lengieza, Dr. Kohn.
Mrs. Cavicchi: Dr. Krewer, Dr. Patterson, Dr. Harutunian,
Mr. Lengieza, Mr. Richards, Dr. Kohn.
Mr. Stohlman: Dr. Harutunian, Dr. Patterson, Dennis Richards,
Dr. Krewer, Mr. Lengieza, Dr. Kohn.
Mr. Spadafora abstained.
ADJOURN
MR. CUMMINGS MOVED TO ADJOURN. MR. STOHLMAN SECONDED THE MOTION.
THE VOTE WAS 5 -0.
