HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-04-14 School Committee Minutes - Search CommitteeSubcommittee for Superintendent Search - Reading Massachusetts rte" Subcommittee Minutes April 14, 200Y CALL TO ORDER At 7:00 p.m. Lyle Kirtman of Future Management welcomed the members of the Subcommittee to the meeting in the Superintendent's Conference Room. Present were Lyle Kirtman, Donna Daly and Bill Hurley of Future Management. Also present were Subcommittee members Linda Carey, John Doherty, Richard Foley, Carol Grimm, Carl McFadden, John O'Connor, Chuck Robinson, Rick Schubert and Camille Visconti. Ms. Daly stated that Karen Callan and Gael Phillips Spence were unable to attend this evening's meeting. Mr. Kirtman discussed the need for a Chair for the Subcommittee. Mr. Schubert nominated Carol Grimm as Chair of the Subcommittee. Mr. Foley seconded the nomination. The vote was 9 -0. The Committee reviewed and discussed the leadership profile. The Committee proposed additions to the profile. Mr. Kirtman stated that a revised leadership profile would be forwarded to Committee members for review. The Committee discussed whether it was in the best interest of the district to have a residency requirement and /or a Ph.D. requirement for the next Superintendent. After discussion it was the consensus of the Committee that they would not limit the search in any way, including imposing a requirement for residency or Ph.D. The Committee discussed whether they would increase the number of interviews if internal candidates applied so as to give each internal candidate the courtesy of an interview. After discussion it was the consensus of the Committee that all internal candidates would receive the courtesy of an interview. The Committee discussed the proposed timeline for the Superintendent search. The next meeting of the Committee was scheduled for May 15, 2003. ADJOURN At 8:55 p.m. Mr. Schubert moved to adjourn. Mr. Robinson seconded the motion. The vote was 9 -0.
