Sledge Woods Walk Page l 1 .1. Town of Reading - Mewing Minutes Trails Committee members (Will, Dave, Tom, and Jean) and a ROLT Representative (Pat Lloyd) walked the site on Sunday, April 28. The project is fairly straightforward, consisting of a 30 ft. span of bridge /boardwalk for a stream crossing and trail clearing and blazing. It connects to the Kurchian Woods trails. We may be able to use materials left over from the Kurchian Boardwalk project. The committee is planning to purchase a gas generator to use for this project from the Kurchian grant. Boardwalk/bridge sections should be 10 feet long and 4 feet wide. The committee thinks that it will take 2 -3 weekends to complete this project. Projected work dates: Sunday, June 9, Saturday June 22, and Sunday June 23. Sunday, June 9 begin construction at Mattera at 9:OOam. Johnson Woods - Bob Connor asked the committee if we would consider this project. It could be done in sections. - The Developer made an off -hand remark about purchasing all the materials. The Trails Committee would have to come up with a cut list. - Concern was raised that this project benefits the Johnson Woods residents, not necessarily all Reading residents (no trail - specific parking for non - Johnson Woods residents) so it may not be a good project for this group. - The committee's decision was to postpone further discussion on this project until the fall when the Sledge Woods and possibly Pinevale projects have been completed. Grace's Project - Jean discussed the Trails Workshop that Grace hosted and Jean was a speaker. Attendance was pretty good (15 -20 people in each of 2 sessions) and some additional Trail Adopters signed up. - The trail part of Grace's project needs engineering consultation first. Friends and Family Day (Saturday, June 15) - The group decided that the theme should be similar to Earth Day "Kids and Adopters ". - Will will bring a turtle. - We need to have maps available. - We also need to bring a canopy (Kim will check on this). Other Notes - There was a question as to whether we can donate materials for Sam Rodda's project on Kylie Drive. Only if we have extras. - There is a Town Forest Committee meeting on Thursday (May 9) that will be contentious as there are several groups that have different ideas about Town Forest use. Vege 12 Town of Ra Wing - Meedng Minutes The meeting was adjourned at 8:50pm. rage 1 3
