(W Members Present: G. Theophanis, E. Murphy, P. Pacino and N. Nordberg
7:40: In Room 16, Town Hall, Chairman Murphy, prior to calling
the Committee to order introduced Moderator, Paul Dustin
and two applicants for the vacancy on the Committee.
Dolores Carroll, 4 Johiftnna Drive, a legal secretary
with five years experience in the office of Town Clerk,
Larry Drew and Nancy Smethurst, 86 Gleason Road, with
many years secretarial experience and currently a
partime employee in the Town Clerk's office. Each
of the candidates gave us a statement as to their interest
in the Committee and information on their background and
experience. After srveral questions by Moderator Dustin
and members of the Committee the two applicants were
excussed and the Committee discussed with the Moderator the
work of the Committee and the qualifications and experience
that each of the candidates would bring to the Committee.
Following this discussion at 8 :15, Moderator Dustin invited
the two applicants back to the room and announced that it
would be his intention to appoint Dolores Carroll to fill
the vacancy on the Committee. Moderator Dustin departed.
8:20: Chairman Murphy called the Committee to order. Chairman Murphy
welcomed, as a guest, our soon to be appointed "new member ",
Dolores Carroll. Chairman Murphy thanked applicant Nancy
Smethurst and then she departed. The Committee proceeded
to review the most recent draft of the By -Law Revisions,
bringing the By -Law into conformity with the Charter.
Phil Pacino moved, George Theophanis seconded:
TO AMEND ARTICLE XXXI, SECTION 2, by deler_*_ing "appointment
committee" and inserting "appointing authority" in two places.
VOTE: 4 -0 APPROVED
With the concurrence of the Committee Chairman Murphy
asked Phil Pacino to request of the Town Clerk's office
that 20 copies with the above amendment and several minor
corrections noted during our discussion be prepared and
available for the Public Hearing on May 26th.
The minutes of the two prior meetings were taken. up.
