Budget Update:
• Budget passed the school committee and has been sent to the town
• 1/2 time position for LLD presented
• School committee put forward three new positions
Goals:
• Mid -year goal meetings with administrators and teachers
• Continuing with similar school themes around making work public and marking our progress as a school on the
work and progress of students
• Lauren Luskin reported on how the rubrics are working on the Downstairs Team and how it relates to the school
goals
Teacher Professional Development:
• Steve Leinwand - Math teachers in the district met and trained with national leader in mathematics reform, Steve
Leinwand at the beginning of February.
• Other questions about math department changes are being discussed by the principals at the middle and high
school
Questions from the School Council about the math presentation at Future Freshman,
• Alg 2017 as a one year course makes sense, but the naming continues to be confusing
• Many parents had questions about the implication of students who start higher in math and want to drop. What
course would they drop into and would that be a repeated course or just a slower pace?
• Parents would like a flow chart for courses similar to the Foreign Language department and the opt out plan for
students who need /want to drop down a level.
Teacher Report: Lauren Luskin
• Enrichment during team time to assist students needing more support, reinforcement
• For students that don't need additional support or instruction, teachers use it for enrichment of the content area
they teach.
