Reading Cultural Council Minutd,NG. MASS.

April 1, 2013, Reading Public library, Small Conference Room
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. Present were Peggy Caouette, Lynne Cassinari, Eileen
Collins, Catherine Folan, Colleen O'Shaughnessy, Donna Schenkel, Nancy Snow, Jacalyn Shelton Wallace.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M.
Donna Schenkel was introduced and welcomed as our new associate member (non - voting).
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer's report was presented, explained and approved.
Evaluation of grant activities and events was the next topic. Lynne went to the MCC website and
downloaded sample evaluation forms. At our May meeting we will discuss how to incorporate the ideas
for our use.
Eileen sent a public announcement of grant winners to the local papers and the Patch, but so far we
have not seen them published. She will follow up and find out when they will be published.
Nancy Snow looked into using funds for RCC promotional items, i.e. rulers, to distribute at the Fall Street
Faire. We determined that the cost was too great and the publicity would not reach its intended
audience.
Jacalyn researched the purchase of a RCC rubber stamp and we determined that labels with the RCC
email address and website will be cheaper and easier to use.
If we want to publicize RCC at the Street Faire, we can go directly to the vendors and performers and
give them card with the RCC grant application address and information rather than rent space and stand
at a booth. Those who have manned the booth in the past agreed this was not the best way to publicize
RCC.
We need to target our intended audience when we spend our promotional money.
• Ask grantees to display RCCC poster at public events.
• Run the RCC video on local television.
• Use Local Cultural Council post cards to let organizations and groups know that the RCC video is
on YouTube and encourage them to apply for a grant also.
Action items:
• Catherine will set up Facebook and Gmail accounts for RCC.
• Peggy will find the email listing town events and see how we can be included.
• Colleen will order "Local Cultural Council" post cards from MCC.
• Donna will look at the MCC logo and consider using it in a poster advertising RCC.
• Jacalyn will ask RMLD to include RCC sponsored programs in its notice of upcoming events.
• Eileen will let the Patch know about the promotional video on YouTube.
The meeting adjourned at 8:42 P.M.
Respectfully submitted by Colleen O'Shaughnessy
