Chairman Rich called the meeting to order in Room 127, Reading
Memorial High School, 62 Oakland Road with Board members
David Devine and John Wood present. Ms. Nina Gaeta was also
present.
Report on Townhouses in 5 -10 Districts
Board reviewed the report as presented and made final corrections
before the report is given to Town Meeting. Upon a motion
duly made and seconded, the report was unanimously accepted.
John Street Study
Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the Board unanimously
accepted the report of progress on the John Street study.
Presentation of this will be made by the Chairman.
West Street /Reading/Wilmington /Woburn - Callan proposal
Chairman Rich reported that the City Council of Woburn had
met the previous Monday night and recommended that the land
suggested for zoning to "Industrial Park" be changed.:to R -1
Residential zoned land. This land extends from Dragon
Court to Wilmington /Woburn /Reading line on West Street.
The City Council stated that they had heard and listened to
Reading's concerns and would expect that Reading would be
cooperative for the needs of water, sewer and other services.
If Reading would not support servicing this area, the Cityof
Woburn would recommend that the land be changed back to
Industrial Park (IP).
EOCD - Master Plan Grant
Chairman spoke with Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimina-
tion (MCAD) about our grant application. Mr. Rodriguez, Director
of MCAD stated that Reading was on the list and that MCAD had
sent back the application with a "Reserve Comment" on it. The
Board of Selectmen were suppose to be meeting with the Fair
Housing Committee to discuss the fair housing program. The
meeting was cancelled and no date set for a future meeting.
Hazardous Waste - General Tire
DEQE is working with the new owners of General Tire to clean
up this site from the hazardous waste found on it.
There being no further business before the Board, it was unani-
mously voted to adjourn at 7:45 P.M. to Town Meeting.
