HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-11-22 Board of Selectmen Minutes - Executive Session Board of Selectmen Meeting Executive Session November 22,2011 The meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Chairman Camille Anthony, Vice Chairman Stephen Goldy, Secretary Ben Tafoya, Selectmen James Bonazoli and Richard Schubert, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, Assistant Town Manager Bob LeLacheur, Town Counsel Gary Brackett and Office Manager Paula Schena. Town Counsel Gary Brackett noted that Elleri Doucette has taken the position of City Solicitor in the City of Woburn so he will be lead counsel for the Town of Reading effective January 1, 2012. He is also hiring two experienced municipal attorneys. Mr. Brackett reviewed six pending cases —two regarding renovations to the Reading Memorial High School and four ZBA cases. The Town Manager rioted that Mark'Spafaro was a Water Department employee who hurt is back years ago and he is not coming back. The Town Manager recommends a settlement up to $30,000. A motion by Tafoya seconded by Bonazoli that the Board of Selectmen approve a settlement in the Workers Compensation case with Mark Spataro in an amount not to exceed $30,000, said settlement being fully insured by the Town's Workers Comp insurance carrier, MIIA; and that the Board authorize the Town Manager to sign all documents in this matter on the Town's behalf. The motion was approved on a roll call vote with all five members voting in the affirmative. A motion by Bonazoli seconded by Goldy to adjourn the Executive Session at 7:31 p.m. was approved on a roll call vote with all five members voting in the affirmative. Respectfully submitted, Secretary
