Bonazoli Q�� p • Leslie McGonagle called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Ok• J. Feudo distributed agenda for June 7 meeting. • May 2 minutes distributed and accepted. • May 17 minutes distributed (site walk) and accepted. • Work plan to be developed (see draft on last page). • Town personnel to take care of some park clean-up. • J. Feudo: Make useable space of ice rink, fix drainage. Look at wet areas and make useable for rec areas. • G. Katsoufts: Long -term plan needed. Upkeep of natural elements (e.g. trees, waterways, nature) • D Walsh: Work with conservation, playground area to expand, nature trail along stream (educational opportunity), clean up edges, court surfaces, bones are good, park needs some dressing up and rethinking • J. Jadul: Commented on wooden poles, old courts, 1960s feel, chain -link fencing, play structure, modernize it, newer style fencing, improving playground, but grow master plan, second entrance, make family - friendly, add bridge, property lines, ... • J. Feudo: We need to assign an action plan, develop mini task forces • F. Driscoll: Replace long poles with more decorative (like Memorial Park) • Trees/vines to be taken care of ® • Money to go to playground • More money needed to do courts, backstop, etc. (part of capital plan) �r. o No Sturges Park fund o • Need circulation route in middle of park • Thought to move playground away from street • Too much room for ice skating (need to review deed) • Make like Castine Field? Drain, maintain ... have discussions with Conservation. • J. Feudo had informal conversation with Conservation, and they're open for discussion • Propose dimensions of skating areas that would work with other groups. Depth is an issue. • Rubber playground covering is an issue at Joshua Eaton. o Perhaps community service hours could be spent cleaning up • L. Egan: Come up with path along perimeter, walking path/exercise trail, bridge. Need to do some fundraising, and create a buzz. • J. Feudo: Need neighborhood and community input. Do an on -line survey. Come up with map, put in mail, invite them. • Talk to Core of Engineers about lighting. • Community outreach: Place signs at park, informing users of the park and welcome input. • Set up SturgesPark @gmail.com e-mail account. • Leslie McGonagle: What do we concentrate on first? • • Clean -up first — in wooded area • Can't fill in wet area until talk with Conservation — might be regulations on what gets cut down • Discussion on how to keep people of L. McGonagle's wall. • J. Fuedo to have rims replaced in basketball court, including nylon nets • Discussion of moving the playground, and provide more parking • Develop a neighborhood questionnaire • On -line survey • Everbridge alert — visit website • Washington park web site (on rec site) • Mail to Precinct 4? • Next meeting: Develop a neighborhood questionnaire • Quick 3- question survey • Next meeting: June 28, 6:30pm • Informally talk to neighbors • Next meeting: Set up survey. Feudo to meet with Conservation Commission next week, and get on the agenda. • Design it, get a price tag, and know what amount of money we need to supplement • Playground: Replace structure, leave money aside to do area improvement (e.g. $10K for fence) • What age group do we target? ® • Game time web site: XScape • Leslie McGonagle made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
