Feudo, J. Bonazoli, V. Sachetta, L. McGonagle, G. Katsoufis, L. Egan Also Attending D. Walsh, K. Varney, J. Bogosian, Gary Juffre NOTES FROM THE STURGES PARK SITE WALK • A sign on the backstop would be helpful to ask patrons not to sit on the residential wall. J. Feudo can get a sign made up and installed on the backstop. • There should probably be a boulder installed at the end of Hemlock so there is no vehicular access to the park. Patrons do use that area. • There are large trees that appear dead that need to be removed especially in the left field area. This should be done as soon as DPW can get a bucket truck out there to do the removal. • The stream area for the most part was clean. There were a few instances in which debris has been thrown into the river to create a make -shift bridge. The debris causes issues for water flow. It might be nice to have an eagle scout build a bridge that is safe and accessible. • The skating areas are all damp and over grown. There is a tremendous amount space available if they can be used and are not considered a wetland. The area was also populated by many bugs due to the aforementioned issues. There is a concern of EEE and ticks with all the bugs. • The skating area is lit, but there have been very little skating the past couple of years. Sometimes the tall grass can not be cut due to the ground being to wet leading to brush freezing into the ice leaving less than desirable conditions. ® There is a large fenced in area holding sewer pump station on the South Street side of the park with a small parking area. The parking area is mainly used for public and residential use. • The fenced area could be beautified with some carefully placed shrubbery and privacy slats in the fencing. ® • The playground has two parts the tot swing area and the large play structure. The playground is close to the street and may be better situated more toward the inner part of the park. • The playground lacks benches and shade trees. • The fence fabric separating the playground and the road needs to be replaced. • The barriers to Pine Ridge road would look nicer with a more decorative style railing versus the old telephone poles. • The tennis court is beyond patch and repair. It will need to be replaced sooner than later. • The basketball court is in decent condition however the rims need to be replaced. J. Feudo will have these replace this summer. • Overall, the neighbors felt the parking situation was ok. When there is activity there is full traffic and all spots are taken. However, it never seems out of control. • If more active play was available extra parking would be needed. 0 f7 r]
