HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-02-26 Board of Library Trustees MinutesMinutes of the Board of Library Trustees And the Board of Selectmen Joint Hearing to Establish a Library Building Committee Tuesday, February 26, 2013 Present: Board of Trustees: David Hutchinson, Chair; Richard Curtis, Vice Chair; Alice Collins, Secretary; Cherrie Dubois, Vicki Yablonsky; Ruth Urell, Library Director. Board of Selectmen: Stephen Croldy, Char; Ben Tafoya, Vice Char; Richard Schubert, Secretary; John Arena, James Bonazoli, Peter Hechenbleikner, Town Manager. Trustees were called to order by the Chairman of the Trustees at 9:05 pm. The Public Hearing was opened by the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen at 9:05 p.m. Mr. Hechenbleikner distributed the proposed Library Building Committee document for review and noted the following changes from the previous draft: The number of members will drop from 10 to 8 members The Historical Commission member has been removed The number of residents proposed was reduced from 4 to 3 members. Mr. Hechenbleikner noted that the Facilities Director would be responsible to the Town Manager for the construction of the Project. Mr. Hechenbleikner stated he received two emails from citizens, Mr. Van Magness and Mr. Crook. In response to their emails, Mr. Hechenbleikner noted that the agenda and minutes of the Building Committee proceedings would be posted. Mr. Van Magness stated he wants a member of the Board of Selectmen on the Cormilttee. Mr. Tafoya responded that he is confident that the proposed composition of the Library Building Committee is sufficient to keep the Selectmen, Town Manager, and town informed. He stated that the Selectmen will stay in touch with the Committee and the Town Manager will be involved on a regular basis. D. Hutchinson endorsed the proposed committee structure. He clarified that the design is already done and approved by the MBLC and that the Owner's Project Manager and other professionals will represent the town's and library's interests in fulfilling the plans for the project. The Library Building Committee draft as amended was agreed to by the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Trustees. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Board of Selectmen, and the Town Moderator will make the appointments of the three residents to the Committee. The Boards of Selectmen and Trustees voted separately and unanimously to approve the Library Building Committee.
