` Girl Scout Project
Grace presented her updated plan for her Girl Scout project. It contains 3 parts: 1. Trail Adopter
Workshops, 2. Trail Clearing (trail head off Sunset Rock lane into Town Forest trails adjacent to
Wood End Elementary School), and 3. Reading Open lands Guide. In regards to the Trail Adopter
Workshops, Grace should schedule the initial meeting and let Jean Jacobs know the date. Jean will
coordinate the Adopters outreach so that Grace knows what has been communicated to them. As
far as the Trail Clearing, Grace should make contact with the Town Forest Committee and John
Feudo (Reading Recreation) to coordinate with them. Maybe attend the TFC's next meeting. For
the Reading open Lands Guide, Grace should make an initial draft from the maps and text on the
Town web site. It was mentioned that Joan Hoyt might have had a list of ambassadors of each of
the open land areas. Do we have that list?
- Article for Chronicle
Dave Williams wrote the article regarding the "Breakfast Walk" so no additional work is needed.
• Follow -up on Trails Summit
How do we keep the ideas and energy from fading?
Kim got the okay to use the Town's Calender for events.
Use Dave's bird walk sign -up as a test for how well the sign -up in advance thing works.
Nothing new on the 408 project adjacent to Mattera.
The project at Eric's Greenhouse site was brought up. Will thought that it was slated to go to ZBA
on March S.
Facebook/Adopters
Not much progress yet.
Maybe Grace's workshop will help jump -start the program.
There has been some motorized vehicle use on some trails.
How to get users to pay attention to rules?
Do we need better signage (e.g. picture sign with slash through 4 wheel vehicle)?
- Budget Request
$1000 carryover from Fin Com under DPW - request for trails.
We need to spend the remaining budget from Kurchian grant. Buy power generator?
Will said that he will notify us about the 408 project if he gets notified by ZBA.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 824pm. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday,
April 9.
