Time: 5:35 PM wh FEB 22 P 3 101 Location: Berger Room Ruth Clay, Staff, Elizabeth Antanavica, 71 Salem Street Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Darlene Foley Topics of Discussion: Public Hearing Section 2 Keeping of Animal Regulations: Motion made by Meade, seconded by Singer to open the Public Hearing. Motion passed unanimously. Ms. Antanavica inquired about the lot requirement and application process to keep chickens. It was noted that the copy of regulation printed by the Reading Chronicle omitted some portions of the regulation. She was given a copy of the proposed regulations which addressed her concems and will submit her application in the future. Motion made by Singer, seconded by Meade to close the Public Hearing. Motion passed unanimously. No further discussion by the Board members. Motion made by Meade, seconded by Singer to approve the revised Section 2 as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Minutes The minutes of February 15, 2013 were presented. Singer made motion to accept, seconded by Meade. Approved 2:0 Lifeguard Policy Meade inquired if there was any further contact from Summit Towers regarding the necessity for a lifeguard or a variance from that requirement; Clay advised there was not. She clarified that the state regulations do not require a lifeguard; therefore, no variance was necessary. Trans Fat Ban Clay attended a Board of Health hearing in Chelsea on February 1 g'" regarding their ban of artificial trans fats that included a total ban rather than the limit of 0.5 grams trans fats per serving in the Boston and Cambridge regulations. The staff had done a great deal of outreach to the food establishments to prepare for the implementation however, there were a number of establishments in the audience opposed to the ban. Clay felt there would be a great deal of resistance at this time If the Board attempted to adopt similar regulations and advised tabling the idea to the future. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
