Lifeguard Policy
Meade inquired if there was any further contact from Summit Towers regarding the necessity for a lifeguard or
a variance from that requirement; Clay advised there was not. She clarified that the state regulations do not
require a lifeguard; therefore, no variance was necessary.
Trans Fat Ban
Clay attended a Board of Health hearing in Chelsea on February 1 g'" regarding their ban of artificial trans fats
that included a total ban rather than the limit of 0.5 grams trans fats per serving in the Boston and Cambridge
regulations. The staff had done a great deal of outreach to the food establishments to prepare for the
implementation however, there were a number of establishments in the audience opposed to the ban. Clay felt
there would be a great deal of resistance at this time If the Board attempted to adopt similar regulations and
advised tabling the idea to the future.
Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
