Catching up 2. Acceptance of the minutes from October 3, 2012 3. Teacher Report —Lauren Luskin a. Working on Goals and Implementation of the Common Core across the curriculum b. Student Learning Goal — use of informational text and constructed response c. Professional Practice Goal —improving communication between the team and families through edline. 4. MCAS report and sharing a. Review of the 4 performance levels b. Review of Student Growth Percentile (SGP) for ELA and Math c. Overview of last year's growth d. PARCC —Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career i. Assessment system that will replace MCAS in 2014 -2015 ii. This assessment is shared with 26 states 5. Homework a. Expectations from the Walsh Team L For students to take home homework that can be practice, that they know how to do and that can be done on their own ii. Teachers want to see what students can do with independence iii. How long? - Not more than 30 min per class per night iv. Teachers encourage students to let them know if it is taking longer v. Based on common planning, Ms. Luskin reports that homework is similar but needs to also match what the students in our classes need. vi. The perception still exists that there is a big difference between teams 6. Conferences — Set date or on -going a. Discussion about the pros and cons b. Discussion about parent communication and the different ways parents and students can connect with teachers c. Do we need to increase awareness of the ability to do phone conferences, email updates, use of edline? 7. Redistricting a. Still a topic for the school committee for next year b. The proposal that would have changed the split at Killiam was not met positively a few weeks ago so the district is going back to the drawing board 8. Coffees a. Discussion about bring neighborhoods and different elementary school parents together
