Committee, Karen Janowski, School Committee Liaison, Mary Ellen Stolecki, Recreation Committee Member, Richard Hand, Recreation Committee Member, Kate Kaminer, Rec. Committee Member, Adam Chase, Rec. Committee Member, Eric Hughes, Rec. Committee Member, Joe Rossetti, Associate Member, John Feudo, Recreation Administrator Guest: Jim Sullivan F. Driscoll called the meeting to order at 7: l OPM. K. Janowski made a motion to accept the minutes from the March 201h, 2012 Rec. Committee meeting. K. Kammer seconded the motion. Motion passed in favor of accepting the minutes for March 20th, 2012 by a vote of 5 — 0- 0. E. Hughes asked if the BOS had scheduled anything for the Tennis Court field in terms of a site walk. J. Feudo stated nothing has been scheduled, but he expected to hear soon. J. Rossetti entered the meeting at 7:11 PM. J. Feudo stated that the Recreation Committee needed to set a hearing date for setting the fees for the amplified sound permits. J. Feudo recommended May 15th as the date. The committee recommended that the notice include a proposed fee of $100. The committee could decide at the hearing whether they want to keep that figure based on the feedback they receive. Amplified Sound Permits J. Feudo presented two applications for amplified sound. The first was Reading Babe Ruth's proposal for their All -Star game day. The date of May 26th at Morton Field would include Music and Announcements from the hours of 10:00 AM — 4:00 PM. M. Stolecki made a motion to approve the Reading Babe Ruth request as proposed. E. Hughes seconded the motion. Motion passes in favor of permitting RBR to use amplified sound on the date of May 26th, 2012 at Morton Field to include Music and Announcements from the hours of 10: OOAM — 4:00 PM by a vote of 6 -0 -0. READING RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES, April 10, 2012 CON'T The second request was Reading Youth Baseballs proposal for their opening game day. The date of April 27th at Hunt Park would include Music and Announcements from the hours of 5:15 PM — 8:00 PM. K. Janowski made a motion to approve the Reading Youth Baseball request as proposed for their opening game day. M. Stolecki seconded the motion. Motion passes in favor of permitting RYB for their request of the date of April 27`h, 2012 at Hunt Park to include Music and Announcements from the hours of 5:15 PM — 8:00 PM. Personal Update: Jim Sullivan's last day will be April 17`h with the Town. The Town has hired Jenna Fiorente to replace Jim. Jenna will start on April 23`d. She comes to the Town with three years programming experience with the BSC and was also our original summer intern 5 years ago. She has experience working with our camp and will be a really good fit for our community. The candidate pool was very strong with 65 applicants and 7 interviews; however, Jenna was the clear choice. Rich Hand entered the meeting at 7:42. Appointment of RCASA Representative M. Stolecki nominated Rich Hand as the Rec. Committee representative for RCASA. A. Chase seconded the nomination. Rich Hand accepted the nomination. The Recreation Committee voted Rich Hand as RCASA representative by a vote of 5 -0 -1. Administrator's Report: J. Feudo gave an update regarding Reading Recreation Magazine. He mentioned that K. Kaminer was recognized in the magazine for her outstanding service to the community and gave an overview of programming. J. Feudo announced that fields are all open and permits have been issued successfully. Reminder Town Day is June 16`h from 11:OOAM — 3:00 PM. Fireworks to follow at 8:00 PM. Approval by the BOS has been given for a location for Port -a- potty's at Birch Meadow and Parker Middle School. Three picnic tables are being installed at Joshua Eaton Playground. The Washington Park walkway and entrance project should be out to bid soon. Sub - Committees RCASA — No report. E. Hughes made a motion to adjourn. R. Hand seconded the motion.
