Committee, Nancy Linn Swain, Rec. Committee Member, Eric Hughes, Rec. Committee Member, Kate Kaminer, Rec. Committee Member, Richard Hand, Rec. Committee Member, John Feudo, Recreation Administrator F. Driscoll called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM. J. Feudo stated he left a copy of the minutes from the June meeting in his office. The Committee stated that would just table the acceptance of the minutes until the October meeting. K. Kaminer gave an update regarding the amplified sound ad hoc committee. She stated the committee has met once so far. They went over the committees charges and discussed possible items the committee will need to look at. She stated eventually the committee will do some site visits to try to determine appropriateness in certain parks. She said the committee would work to develop a work plan. J. Feudo updated the committee on the Tennis Monitor program from the summer. He felt the program went well. The coordination was somewhat difficult from time to time, but overall the senior tax workers did a good job. Over 70 passes were sold to residents as well as 2 out of town passes. The feedback from the monitors was that the courts still had high traffic, but the wait was minimal on most nights. Overall the program was a success and it will be done again next summer with some tweaks. J. Feudo stated he will look to hire staff versus utilizing senior tax workers. J. Feudo gave an overview of the budget. He reviewed the summer participation numbers reports gains in virtually every area. Summer camp and Junior Camp in particular both had nice increases in participation. Otherwise the sports camps and clinics were strong highlighted by the girls varsity basketball clinic which had close to 150 kids! Administrator's Report: J. Feudo gave an overview of the fall programming schedule. J. Feudo mentioned he will be looking for a couple of sets of hands to help out with the Halloween parade. If anyone is interested please send a quick email indicating that. The Halloween parade is set for October 30`" at the Coolidge Middle School- step off at 12 PM. The extra lights at Birch Meadow are in and being used. They work great. J. Feudo is working on getting a second meter for the lights to make the administration of them easier. READING RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES Sept. 20, 2011 Con't The Joshua Eaton Playground is complete. The playground is the second largest in town and will also feature picnic tables and benches down the road. J. Feudo mentioned that there will be a world cafe on Wed Night presented by RCASA. This comes on the heels of the two drug related deaths that had recently occurred that were connected to the Reading Community. RCASA Update: N. Swain reiterated that the meeting for Wed night and also mentioned there would be two successive meetings in October. She encouraged folks to pass the word. N. Swain made a motion to adjourn. F.
