HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-04-24 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH April 24, 2012 The meeting of the Reading Board of Health came to order at 5:52 pm in the Berger Room of Reading Town Hall. Present were Board members Barbara Meade, David Singer and staff Ruth Clay. In attendance: Ben Tafoya, Board of Selectmen Liaison, Lauren Kiezulas, Joseph Hunt, Nursing Students, RCASA members Julianne DeAngelis, Erica McNamara, Ashley Testa, Samantha Abate, residents Diane and Wendy Meyers. Minutes Motion made by Singer, seconded by Meade, to approve the minutes of March 15, 2012 as submitted. Motion passed 2:0: Members of RCASA gave an informative presentation. RCASA supports the banning of tobacco sales in pharmacies. Letters sent to pharmacies in 2011 regarding the ban received no response. The Board reviewed the model regulation restricting the sale of tobacco products and nicotine delivery products, made decisions regarding policy language to be incorporated into the draft regulation. Clay will present draft regulation at next meeting. Other business and items not reasonably anticipated at the time of the posting • The proposed ticketing policy for enforcement of the Food Code was discussed with Board of Selectman Liaison, Ben Tafoya. This policy would become an effective tool in preventing food borne illness. • Application to keep chickens submitted by Dianne & John Meyers of 159 Wakefield Street. Singer made motion to approve, seconded by Meade. Meeting has been scheduled April 27`h with inspectors from Melrose, Wakefield and Reading to discuss mobile food and temporary food events.
