HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-11-10 Finance Committee Minutes Subsequent Town Meeting November 10, 2008 The FINCOM meeting convened at 7:05 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Reading Memorial High School, 82 Oakland Road, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were: FINCOMChairman George Hines, Vice Chairman Andrew Grimes, Committee members Barry Berman, David Greenfield, Jay Tangney, Hal Torman, Marsie West, Tom White and Matt Wilson, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and Assistant Town Manager/Finance Director Bob LeLacheur. George Hines called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and reviewed the most recent estimate for a new fire pumper engine (fully equipped) is $525,000 – up from $500,000 last August. This higher amount was sent in the written material (Article 11) to Town Meeting, and will be in the motion tonight. FINCOM had previously approved Article 11 at $500,000, and George Hines asked that FINCOM vote this revised amount. On a motion by White and seconded by Torman, FINCOM voted 8-0-0 (Wilson arriving mid-vote) to recommend Article 11 at $525,000. FINCOM discussed the need for a Financial Forum in November, and decided to go ahead and schedule one. George Hines will contact the Chairs of the Selectmen and School Committee to review the agenda and confirm the meeting if it is necessary. On a motion by Torman seconded by Grimes the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM on a vote of 9-0-0 Respectfully submitted, Secretary
