Subsequent Town Meeting
November 10, 2008
The FINCOM meeting convened at 7:05 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Reading
Memorial High School, 82 Oakland Road, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were:
FINCOMChairman George Hines, Vice Chairman Andrew Grimes, Committee
members Barry Berman, David Greenfield, Jay Tangney, Hal Torman, Marsie
West, Tom White and Matt Wilson,
Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and
Assistant Town Manager/Finance Director Bob LeLacheur.
George Hines called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and reviewed the most recent
estimate for a new fire pumper engine (fully equipped) is $525,000 – up from $500,000
last August. This higher amount was sent in the written material (Article 11) to Town
Meeting, and will be in the motion tonight. FINCOM had previously approved Article 11
at $500,000, and George Hines asked that FINCOM vote this revised amount.
On a motion by White and seconded by Torman, FINCOM voted 8-0-0 (Wilson
arriving mid-vote) to recommend Article 11 at $525,000.
FINCOM discussed the need for a Financial Forum in November, and decided to go
ahead and schedule one. George Hines will contact the Chairs of the Selectmen and
School Committee to review the agenda and confirm the meeting if it is necessary.
On a motion by Torman seconded by Grimes the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM
on a vote of 9-0-0
Respectfully submitted,
Secretary
