HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-03-23 Finance Committee Minutes Finance Committee Meeting March 23, 2007 The meeting convened at 7:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Reading Memorial High School, 62 Oakland Road, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Chairman Andrew Grimes and Finance Committee members Ronald Powell, Paul Bolger, Michelle Williams, Hal Torman and David Greenfield. Also present were Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and Assistant Town Manager/Finance Director Bob LeLacheur. Peter Hechenbleikner discussed Article 14 of the 2007 Annual Town Meeting, which proposes to accept Woodland Street (from John Carver to Town owned Birch Meadow property), as a public way. There are six residents impacted by this issue – the matter was brought forward by some of these residents to the Board of Selectmen for consideration. On February 13, 2007 a public hearing was held. Four residents on Woodland will pay a larger share of the estimated $94,284 betterment, and favor the Article. Two corner lot residents (with frontage on John Carver) will pay a smaller share – one is opposed and the other undecided. On motion by Grimes seconded by Williams, FINCOM approved Article 14 by a vote of 6-0-0. On motion by Grimes seconded by Bolger, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. on a vote of 6-0-0.
