The meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room, 16 Lowell StreeA��yy adi�g11; 53
Massachusetts. Present were Selectmen Ben Tafoya and James Bonazoli, To�iQia`Ha Peter
Hechenbleikner, David Traniello, Kathleen Hackett, John Hazlsey, Jeffrey Hansen, Richard
Wetzler and Thomas Procopio.
The Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee (VASC) interviewed attendees for various positions
on Boards, Committees and Commissions. David Traniello and Kathleen Hackett are most
interested in the Zoning Board of Appeals.
John Halsey withdrew from consideration for the CPDC, and is most interested in the Finance
Committee. The VASC discussed with Mr. Halsey the potential. conflict of interested in
representing any another individual or organization before a Town body, since he is very
involved in the Reading Baseball Club. He is going to think about whether or not this is going to
be a problem.
Jeff Hansen is extremely enthusiastic about the Community Planning and Development
Commission.
Rick Wetzler is very interested in the Town Forest Committee, and the Town Manager will
check with Tom Gardiner who is on the Town Forest Committee and the Trails Committee, to
see if he would be willing to step back to an Associate position on the Town Forest Committee,
making way for Mr. Wetzler.
Mr. Procopio is very interested in the Council on Aging based on his experience. He would
probably have a conflict with the MBTA.
Jacalyn Wallace and Alison Ullman did not show up for their interviews.
The VASC will meet on May 23, 2012 to complete interviews of candidates that they currently
have before them.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafoya the VASC adjourned at 8:30 a.m. by a vote of
2 -0 -0.
