The meeting convened at the meeting convened at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room, 16 Lowell
Street, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Selectmen Ben Tafoyj&QWnebB2aMlP town
Manager Pete Hechenbleikner, and applicant Kevin Walsh.
Kevin Walsh was interviewed for a position on the Council on Aging. He currently volunteers
for senior services of a friendly visitor, does cable TV programming for Elder /Human Services
and is also the Selectmen's member on the RCTV Board.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafova the Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee
(VASC) voted to recommend Kevin Walsh for a term on the Council on Aging with a term
expiring June 30, 2014. The motion was approved by a vote of 2 -0 -0.
The VASC had previously interviewed Carie Ann Torrence for a number of potential positions.
She has indicated that she is interested in becoming a member of the Human Relations Advisory
Committee.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafova the subcommittee voted to recommend Carie
Ann Torrence to a position on the Human Relations Advisory Committee for a term
expiring June 30, 2014. The motion was approved by a vote of 2 -0 -0.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafova the VASC voted to recommend Leslie Leahy to
a position on the Reading Fall Street Faire Committee with a term expiring June 30, 2013.
The motion was approved by a vote of 2 -0 -0.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafova the VASC voted to adjourn at 6:40 p.m. on a
vote of 2 -0 -0.

The meeting convened at 6:45 p.m. in the Arnold Berger Conference Roo1QI1 dift4ell ReeY, 32
Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Selectmen Ben Tafoya and James Bonazoli, Town
Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, candidates Jean Prato and Carie Torrence.
Jean Prato was interviewed for a position on the Council on Aging.
Carie Torrence was interviewed for a potential position on the Human Relations Advisory
Committee (HRAC), the Zoning Board of Appeals, Community Planning and Development
Commission or the Economic Development Committee. She expressed preference for the
Human Relations Advisory Committee and the Town Manager indicated that at the Selectmen's
Meeting the Board will be making the determination of the future of the HRAC. The Volunteer
Appointment Subcommittee asked Carie to think about the Zoning Board of Appeals or CPDC.
She indicated because of the time commitment she needed to talk to her family and she would
get back to the VASC through the Town Manager.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafoya the Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee
recommends Jean Prato for a term on the Council on Aging expiring June 30, 2012, by a
vote of 2 -0 -0.
They will make a further determination when Ms. Torrence determines what her preference
would be.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafova the Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee
voted to adjourn at 7:00 p.m. by a vote of 2 -0 -0.

The meeting convened at 8:00 p.m. in the Conference Room, 16 L°°� I1 Prjj, &A '
Massachusetts. Present were Selectmen James Bonazoli and Camille Anthony,.Town Manager
Peter Hechenbleikner, and applicants Laurie Sylvia, Lori Weir and John Halsey.
Laurie Sylvia is an employee of the Reading Municipal Light Department and is interested in
becoming an Associate to the Advisory Committee on the Cities for Climate Protection Program.
She's currently involved in the tree program, and the program to provide certificates to
businesses for going green.
Lori Weir and John Halsey are applicants for two positions on the ad hoc Committee on
Amplified Sound in Parks. Lori is a resident of Winthrop Avenue and lives approximately 300
feet from the Birch Meadow Park. John Halsey, a long time business person in Reading and
Reading resident and is owner of the Reading Bulldogs. The applicants talked with the
Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee about the committee, its schedule, and its work plan.
On motion by Anthony seconded by Bonazoli the Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee
recommended Laurie Sylvia as an Associate member of the Advisory Committee to the
Cities for Climate Protection Program for a term expiring June 30, 2012. The motion was
approved by a vote of 2 -0 -0.
On motion by Anthony seconded by Bonazoli the Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee
recommended Lorie Weir and John Halsey for two positions on the ad hoc Committee on
Amplified Sound in Parks for terms expiring December 31, 2011 by a vote of 2 -0 -0.

The meeting convened at 8:00 p.m. in the Conlcrence Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading,
Massachusetts. Present were Selectmen James Bonazoli and Ben Tafoya, Town Manager Peter
Hechenbleikner, Virginia Adams, Petra Conboy, Judith Smith, Robyn Parker and Nancy
Genevieve Kohl.
The Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee (VASC) interviewed Petra Conboy for a position on
the ad hoc Committee on Amplified Sound in Parks. Carboy is an abutter to Washington Park
and felt she would have something to contribute to this issue.
The VASC interviewed Judith Smith, Robyn Parker and Nancy Genevieve Kohl for one position
as a full member of the Historical Commission, plus Associate members. All of the candidates
were extremely well qualified.
On motion by Bonazoli seconded by Tafoya, the VASC moves to recommend the following
appointments:
Ad Hoc Committee on Amplified Sound in Parks — Petra Conbov
Historical Commission for a regular member for a term expiring June 30, 2013 —
Robvn Parker
Historical Commission Associate members for terms expiring 6 -30 -12 — Judith
Smith and Nanev Genevieve
The motion was approved by a vote of 2 -0 -0.
A motion by Tafova seconded by Bonazoli the VASC voted to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. on a
vote of 2 -0 -0.
