Members in attendance: Tom Gardiner, Dave Williams, Joan Hoyt, Susan Giacalone
Assoc. members in attendance: Will Finch, John Parsons
Also in attendance: Kim Honetschlager — GIS Coordinator
The meeting came to order at 7:20 p.m. at Reading Town Hall.
New Business and Discussion:
The Committee VOTED to approve the June 7, 2011 Minutes with a vote of 4 -0
in favor.
2. The Adopt -a -Trail program needs some new energy and reorganization. Sue will
create a letter to the Adopters to reconnect with those that are still active in trail
maintenance.
3. Chuck Tirone is the new part-time Conservation Commission Administrator. He
also works part-time for the Town of Boxford, MA.
4. Discussion about the Kurchian (at Franklin Street) project and the pros and cons
of replacing or building over the existing boardwalk. How would the existing wet
and rotten decking and telephone poles be removed? Would Mike Debrigard
and /or DPW be available to help? We should get the Kurchian project on the
Cons Comm. Agenda and request a site visit to the Kurchian area prior to the
meeting in order to get their opinions on the area and project. Kim will be in touch
with the Chair of Cons Comm to request the project be put on the agenda.
5. The grant money has to be spent by June 30, 2012 ($14,000.00) on the supplies
for the project. We will let the abuttors know about the project.
Discussion:
Dave suggested that the bluebird houses need "renovation ". He also suggested
we continue to put articles in the local papers about walks and activities that we
can offer to locals folks.
Tom reports that that Will Guyott and his team did a nice job on clearing trails,
blazing trails and renovating the Kurchian Woods entrance sign for his Eagle
Scout Project. Tom signed off on Will's project.
Kiley Drive trail clearing project will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2011.
Joan will contact John Barnes who is interested in volunteering to help clear the
trail and to also adopt this trail.

The dedication of the George Perry trail will take place in September sometime.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Mattera Cabin.
