Those suggestions included the following: Health and Wellness Focus — the school commit to snow shoeing each year for Grades 4 -5 to use the new equipment purchased. It was recognized that due to a lack of snow this year, it was impossible to take students out for this activity; Parent Focus Groups — multiple parent groups be held to promote participation; Building Based Safety Committee — the school maintain the "walk to school on Wednesdays" program; Provide RTI (Response to Intervention) models in all subjects, consider flexible groupings for math, but recognize the need for additional support staff; Initiate School -Wide Review of Writing — Need to create common assessments, focus on writing across the district especially during transition years (Grades 5 to 6 and Grades 8 to 9), and look at student work; New Family Support Network — provide families with brochure ( "Wood End at a Glance ") as part of registration process and at Open House, Family Support Network contacts will personally contact new families to welcome and provide resources as well as follow up within the first 1 -2 weeks of school, and a survey will be sent out in the spring to get feedback on ways to improve outreach efforts. Wood End Technology Committee Update Principal Davidson will hold off until the next PTO meeting as he is waiting for additional information. Other Business The "Help Wanted" notice has resulted in two new staff members joining the School Council next year, Stephanie Malone and Mia Gaska. They will attend the next meeting in June to meet the committee. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m. The School Council will resume discussions at the next meeting on June 7, 2012.
