Town Hall, Reading, Massachusetts. The meeting was called to order at 6:05 P.M.
Minutes from the March 27, 2002 meeting were signed by the board members.
Minutes from the April 24, 2002 meeting were read and accepted.
There were no new members this month.
There were no retirement applications this month.

In regards to the restoration to service of Charles Johnson, the Town has placed him on a list for the next available job
within the same department for which he is qualified. He has also been notified that he will have to meet the current
licensing and job requirements, which he should discuss with the Department Head.
Discussed and approved Supplementary Regulations for Travel as required by PERAC.
Approved estimated travel to PERAC's Educational Conference at UMass Amherst by Elizabeth Klepeis and Karen
DeAngelis. Elizabeth Klepeis abstained from voting on this issue.

Approved a Section 101 allowance of $6,000 per year for Virginia Junkins, widow of Paul Junkins. Paul Junkins, who
retired on May 29, 1952 from the Police Department, passed away on May 2, 2002. His death was not a direct result of the
injury that caused his accidental disability retirement.
The Board voted for Dan Seferian as Vice - Chairman.
Memos received:
PERAC - Memo # 20/2002, dated April 17, 2002 - Retirees' Rights and Responsibilities brochures from PERAC.
Reading Retirement's membership must be advised of the availability of the brochure and the ways in which it can
be obtained. Brochures need to be distributed to prospective retirees.
PERAC - Memo # 23/2002, dated April 23, 2002 - Revised "Application for Withdrawal of Accumulated Total
Deductions ".
PERAC - Memo # 24/2002, dated May 24, 2002 - Guidance and assistance from PERAC in administering the law
regarding the local early retirement incentive program
PRIM - Monthly Account Statement and PRIT Fund Performance for Period Ending April 30,2002.
Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association - Local Early Retirement Option is now law. It
was signed by Acting Governor Jane Swift on May 15, 2002.
Retired State, County and Municipal Emolovees Association-- Memo received from Ralph White showing
unofficial figures of each Board's investment performance for the year 2001.
