HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-08-29 Retirement Board Minutes-1 The Reading Retirement Board held a meeting on AUGUST 29, 2001, in the Conference Room, Town Hall, Reading, Massachusetts. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 A.M. Minutes from the July 27, 2001 meeting were signed by the board members. Minutes from the July 18, 2001 meeting were read and accepted. His spouse, Maureen, is his Option C beneficiary. She will receive $ 896.08 per month as an allowance, starting on August 31, 2001. The Legislature acted on the PRIT participating member state funding in a supplemental budget. They did not fund the program The House favored the appropriation, but the Senate did not and the Senate prevailed in conference committee. The Board voted to write letters to the Town's representatives, to the House chairman of Ways and Means, and to the Senate chairman of Ways and Means thanking them for their support and requesting continued support for the funding. Boyan Key Accounts Manager 8/16/01 9% Approved PERAC approved retirement calculations: Joseph Veno Option A September 7, 2001 Annuity $ 5,174.52 Pension $35,746.44 Annual Allowance $40,920.96 Approved refunds /transfers Marie Paiva transfer to Wakefield 1 year and 5 months $3,210.63 Reviewed and approved the following vouchers: 2001 Voucher # 67 Town of Reading Treasurer $ 389,117.99 retiree payroll 68 Town of Reading Treasurer $ 2,319.27 Sep Admin. salary 69 Town of Wakefield $ 3,210.63 transfer Paiva PERAC's Disability Unit has evaluated Joseph Cummings, Paul Vallee, and Robert Buote for possible return to service pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, chapter. 32, section 8. The Comprehensive Medical Evaluation (CME) physician evaluator determined that each retiree was unable to perform the essential duties of his job. PERAC has determined that Joseph Cummings earnings in 2000 exceeded the amount allowed by $644.36. Mr. Cummings will repay this amount by having his retirement allowance dated October 31, 2001 reduced by $644.36. The Division of Administrative Law Appeals affirmed the decision of the Retirement Board that classified the position of field technician as Group I. Meeting adjourned 8:20 A.M.
