READING, MASS. BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
MINUTES
1011 NOV 30 A % I $ , October 13, 2011
The Board of Health (BOH) meeting was called to order on October 13, 2011 at 5:40 pm
in the Berger Room, Town Hall, by Barbara Meade, Chair. Those present at the meeting
were Dr. David Singer and Ruth Clay, Public Health Director.
In attendance: Darlene Foley.
Minutes
The minutes of September 15, 2011, were read and accepted 2:0.
Old Business
Grumpy Doyles — All outstanding fines have been paid. There were no other issues at
this time.
Other Business
Two complaints were received about illegal dumping on Causeway, abutting property at
Austin Prep. Initial complaint was investigated by Greg Erickson. Area was cleaned up
but the following day more dumping occurred. Ruth will follow up the possibility of
cameras being installed to monitor the area.
Flu clinic was held on October 5`h at the Killam School despite the town wide power
outage; 148 immunizations were given.
Ruth advised the Board of the actions taken during the power outage. All food
establishments will be provided with a packet on Guidance for Emergency Action
Planning.
Reading is trying to join the Greater River Valley Coalition. A representative (other than
the Health Director) may be needed to attend the meetings to vote on the Town's behalf.
Ruth proposed to have a joint board meeting with Melrose, Wakefield and Reading where
staff can meet each other and extend an invitation to EMARC and Riverside Community
Care to give a presentation regarding their work within the communities.
There being no other business the Board voted 2:0 to adjourn at 6:55 pm. The next
scheduled meeting is for November 10, 2011.
