HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-03-22 Board of Public Works MinutesBoard of Public Works Meeting of March 22' 1983 Page 1 A meeting of the Board of Public Works convened in Room 16' Municipal Building at 7'30 P.M. Present were Chairman Wood, Secretary I Fallon, Board Members Barker,. Polychrones and Criffin and Superintendent E. Roger Louanis. The Chairman turned the gavel over to the Superintendent to act as Chairman Pro Tem for the reorganization of the Board. The Chairman Pro Tem opened elections for the Chairman of the Board, and Mrs. Gail Wood was elected on the first ballot. Mr. Griffin moved' and Mr. Polychrones seconded and let the record show that the election for the Chairman was unanimous and it was voted. The Chairman Pro Tem opened elections for the Secretary and Mr. John Fallon was elected on the first ballot. Mr. Griffin moved, and Mr. Polychrones seconded and let the record show that the election for Secretary was unanimous and it was voted. Mrs. Wood assumed the Chair and entertained a motion for appointment of Superintendent and Clerk of the Board. Mr. Griffin moved that E. Roger Louanis be appointed Superintendent and Clerk of the Board for the coming year. It was seconded and voted S:O. The Chairman appointed the members to the following committees: Recreation Committee - Gail Wood Computer Advisory Committee - Arthur Polychrones Law Committee - John Fallon It was moved, seconded and voted S|O that Sheet No. 3, dated March 22, 1983, Bill No. 3 for a 70% lateral for Richard F. Lodico' 20 Track Road' Plat 79 Lot 37' in the amount of $175.00/ and Bill No. 4, for Amerigo and Joan A. Corsetti, 30 Border Road' Plat 7 Lot 19 in the amount of $252.00 for a total of $427.00 be committed to the Tax Collector and betterments assessed accordingly. Board of Public Works Meeting of March 22' 1983 Page 2 The Board reviewed and discussed the plans for the final roadway hearings to be held on Thursday, March 24 on the following streets', Federal Street, Wakefield Street, Pearl Street and Bay State Road. The Board met with Mr. John Patteleno regarding his request to have a tree planted on the Reading Common from the families of Lisa Ann Cummings, Anthony Dello Russo, Patrice McNeil, and Michele Rhoades, dedicated to the Youth of today as a symbol of their gratitude to all the fine youth, especially of Reading and Medford for their warm support. Secondly, the tree would symbolize the need for safety. They hope to dedicate the tree, and a plaque if possible, on Arbor Day, Friday, April 22, 1983. Mrs. Wood asked if the families would have any preference for the type of tree to be planted. Mr. Patelano replied no, but he would be working very closely with Bud Dickey, the Tree Warden. Mr. Polychrones moved to accept the letter and that the Board cooperate with the families in carrying out this request. It was seconded and voted S:O. amended. The Board reviewed the Water Department Sodium Notice for 1983. It was moved, seconded and voted S!O to approve the Notice as It was moved' seconded and voted S:O to accept the letter to Mr. Peter Moscariello regarding the installation of an electric outlet at the Birch Meadow Varsity Baseball Field as a point of information. The Board signed the Payroll and the Billroll for the �erzoU ending March 18, 1983. The meeting adjourned at 9:08 P.M.
