HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-05-05 Board of Public Works Minutesr Board of Public Works Meeting of May 5, 1983 Page 1 A meeting of the Board of Public Works convened in Room 104, Parker Jr. High School, Temple Street, Reading, Ma. at 7 :00 P.M. Present were Chairman Wood, Secretary Fallon, Board Members Barker, Polychrones and Griffin and Assistant Superintendents McIntire and Bergeron. It was moved, seconded and voted 5 :0 to accept the minutes of the Board of Public Works meeting of April 21, 1983 as written. It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to accept the minutes of the Board of Survey meeting of April 21, 1983 as written. Chairman Wood explained to the Board that it was legal to use monies from the Stabilization Fund for Drain Construction in the amount of $160,000.00 and Roadway Construction in the amount of $219,000.00 on a 2/3 vote of Town Meeting and that the Public Works Articles for these projects would be presented in that manner. It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to sign Contract 83 -13 - Sweeping of Streets. It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 to award Contract 83 -2 - 12" Water Main Construction to Ciano Contracting, Inc., Newtonville, Ma. in the amount of $287,976.50 subject to them procuring the required payment and performance bonds. It was moved, seconded and voted 5 :0 that Sheet No. 4, Bill No. 5 for a 100% Lateral dated 5/2/83 for Chester M. & Henrietta B. Hutt, 31 Grove Street, Plat 122 Lot 43 in the amount of $400.00 be committed to the Tax Collector and betterments assessed accordingly. a It was moved, seconded and voted 5 :0 that Sheet No. 5, Bill No. 6 for a 70% Lateral dated 5/2/93 for Barry J. & Annamae Newell, 10 Meadowbrook Lane, Plat 122 Lot 2 in the amount of $215.60 be committed to the Tax Collector and betterments assessed accordingly. Board of Public Works meeting of May 5, 1983 Page 2 At the request of Mr. Barker a discussion of the Public Works Economic Development Program, Chapter 732 will be taken up at the next regularly scheduled board meeting. The Department was requested to investigate Item #6 on the Agreement for these funds as to whether the item was generated because of State Law or as a desire of the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Works. The Board signed the Payroll and the Billroll for the period ending 4- 29 -83. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
