HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-06-16 Board of Public Works MinutesBoard of Public Works Meeting of June 16, 1986 Page 1 A meeting of the Board of Public Works convened in Room 122, Reading Memorial High School, 62 Oakland Road, Reading, Ma. at 6:45 P.M. Present were Secretary Boucher, Board Members Barker, Griffin and Nitzsche and Asst. Superintendent William A. Redford. Mr. Boucher read the Notice of Public Hearing at 6:45 P.M. regarding the petition of the Reading Municipal Light Department to install and maintain underground conduits and conductors and such other fixtures as are necessary to sustain and protect a line for the transmission of electricity, including permission to excavate for all the aforesaid purposes, upon, along, under and across the following public ways: In Gould Street - Pullbox located approximately 270' easterly of the Haven Street centerline in the southerly sidewalk of Gould Street. Gould Street - 2-4" PVC conduits from MH 1, approximately 220' west of Haven Street, diagonally across street approximately 55' in a south- easterly direction to proposed pullbox in south sidewalk. Gould Street - 2-4" PVC conduits from M.H. 1, approximately 220' west of Haven Street, diagonally across street approximately 45' in a southeasterly direction to lot line. Present from the Reading Municipal Light Deprtment was Mr. Frank Hadley. Following the presentation by Mr. Hadley and discussion with the Board, it was moved, seconded and voted 4:0 to close the hearing at 6:53 PM. It was moved, seconded and voted 4:0 to approve Petition #1610 dated May 19, 1986. It was moved, seconded and voted 4:0 to approve the minutes of the Board of Public Works Meeting of June 2, 1986 as written. . It was moved, seconded and voted 4:0 to approve the minutes of the Board of Survey meeting of June 2, 1986 as written. Barry Hampson joined the meeting in progress and assumed the Chair at 7:01 P.M. It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 that Sheet No. 6, Bill No. 7 for a 70% Lateral for Plat 120, Lot 45, in the amount of $292.28 be committed to the Tax Collector and betterments assessed accordingly. It was moved, seconded and voted 5:0 that Sheet No. 7, Bill No. 8 for a 100% lateral for Plat 169, Lot 3, in the amount of $360.57 be committed to the Tax Collector and betterments assessed accordingly. Following discussion, it was moved, seconded and voted 4:1 (Mr. Barker opposed) to award Contract 86-5, Sidewalk Construction, Summer Avenue, to Santorelli Construction Co. of Wakefield, Ma, in accordance with their bid of $41,740.40, subject to their procurement of the required payment bond, performance bond and Certificate of Insurance and to assess better- ments accordingly, said betterments not to exceed $30,000.00. The Board adjourned temporarily at 7:05 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey. The Board reconvened and adjourned at 7:29 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Secretary
