Board of Health Meeting <br /> Minutes <br /> February 10,2000 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room, and 16 <br /> Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts by Chairman James J. Nugent, Colleen Henessey <br /> —Seferian and Nancy Carlson were present. Staff liaison Jane Fiore, Health Services <br /> Administrator present. <br /> The minutes of the January 13, 2000 meeting were accepted as read 3:0:0. <br /> Review of Massachusetts Boards of Health Body y piercing regulations tabled. <br /> DEP—Public Information Plan discussed regarding GE, MSM and Roadway cleanup <br /> sites and community request information. Jennifer Ek of DEP will be contact person for <br /> Reading. Reading Public Library will house all the information regarding the three sites. <br /> All Board members will be notified of each information meeting. <br /> Pertussis update—58 cases as of February 4. Final contagious date will be February 15. <br /> Which at this time if no further cases are uncovered the outbreak first generation will be <br /> over. Final report will be given at the march BOH meeting. Board viewed the Ch. 5 Dec. <br /> 17 interview. <br /> Old Business <br /> Tobacco Grant: Proposal to include North Reading report completed regarding <br /> February North Reading Board meeting.North reading has made a decision to combine <br /> with Reading/ Stoneham Tobacco Control Program. The Grant proposal is due February <br /> 18. The Board congratulated Ruth Brophy on ajob well done. It was noted to the Board <br /> that the first round of regulations on Youth Access is not expected by North Reading <br /> until June 2001. <br /> The Reading Board of Health also signed their letter of intent to continue to <br /> participate in the MTCP contract. All three Board members signed the agreement letter. <br /> Other <br /> Administrative report included: <br /> * year 4 of Hepatitis B clinic for grade 6(138 students) <br /> 0 PHN—pre-adolescent workshops continue. <br /> ® Mosquito control program continues.—March meeting Project to be invited to <br /> BOH meeting to discuss West Nile EEE. <br /> Press release distributed to Board members from Town Manager. <br />
