E i E G r Board of Health Meeting Minutes October 9, 2003 The meeting was called to order at 6:04 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room,A6 ~ Lowell Street,Reading,Massachusetts, Chairman, Colleen Seferian. Members present =-= Barbara Meade, and David Mitchell Singer and staff liaison Jane Fiore, Health ervic Administrator. C10 cn v The minutes of the August 14, 2003 accepted 2:0:0. September 18, 2003 minutes to be corrected as next date. Draft will be changed and brought before the Board on October 9, 2003. Next order of business: • Permit for Fish and Wild Life to breach beaver dam at 735 Haverhill Street. The BOH was given a report and a vote was taken to take action 2:0:0 . DPW will breach dam. A second permit for a flow pipe signed by Barbara Meade. This emergency permit begins October 9 - October 23, 2003. Dam 450 crescent shape and into beaver pond approximately 120 yards. r [ • Review and change in BOH well regulations Section 8: 8.2.3 aquifer district wells. The board discussed the addition of one section. The permit for a private well in an aquifer district must come before the BOH in person for the waiver. Section voted 3:0:0. • Administrative report • Cholesterol screening clinics Fire Department groups 1 and 2 10 men and women. Group 3 and 4 October 21. Increase education on nutrition. • Flu shots for homebound going well 45 visits completed • No BOH meeting on November 13,2003. Town Meeting article regarding smoking bylaw will be presented to Town Meeting. Colleen Seferian and Jane Fiore will attend the meeting. Jane will forward the information to Colleen and the Town Manager regard the regulation. • Photo for Web page • Communicable disease update • BOH looking to begin limited health and wellness screening Oral cancer screen, skin cancer, cholesterol, BP, glucose;nutrition and exercise. Discussion will continue with staff and BOH members for support of wellness day in March. This wellness day may happen at the primary election day in March. Health Administrator will mail the information to the BOH when compiled. _;
