He asked Sexton, as a former selectman, if he <br /> found the open discussion to be beneficial. Sexton responded that he felt it was always. <br /> beneficial to hear what the public would say; it was good to get a different perspective on <br /> different issues. Typically the public discussions are basically the sole exclusive right of the <br /> chair, and as such the chair set.it up how he wanted, perhaps setting a limit of time for <br /> discussion, which could always be extended if necessary. Sexton stated the Costigan asked- <br /> Pfeifer if it was something she would like to see and she concurred. Costigan inquired if <br /> anyone from the public had anything to discuss. Mary Ellen O'Neil noticed an increase in <br /> chemical odor due to chemically treated lawns-causing this to smell-like a chemical factory. <br /> O'Neil would like people to use alternative treatment Docktor wants to thank-O'Neil and <br /> Gina Snyder for bringing this issue to light. Nancy continued on reading how harmful <br /> pesticides are to humans. Caroline Whiting had no detailed remarks but'seconds everything <br /> already stated. Costigan read written correspondence from Gina Snyder stating that all <br /> pesticides are all toxic to some degree and we all have a right to be protected from <br /> hazardous chemicals. No written communications were received..O'Neil inquired that though <br /> she is aware that the next step is to go before the Board of Selectman will the Board of <br /> Health also be voting on this matter and make a suggestion to the Board of Selectman? <br /> Costigan stated that they will but are not ready to do this at this time. Erisminger asked <br /> Costigan to provide him with all the information in PDF form. Costigan stated that the <br /> schools fall under the state.regulations. Docktor stated that the town very rarely uses <br /> pesticides. Docktor then stated that the pesticide known as Round Up sold at retailers like <br /> Home Depot is not safe and that people do not understand that. She stated that it's legal <br /> just like herbicides. Costigan motioned to closed public session Sexton seconded the <br /> motion.
