ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br />Reading Memorial High School May 3.2O1O <br />The meeting was called to order bythe Moderator, Alan E. Fou\da. at 7:36 p.m., there being a <br />quorum present. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag given. <br />Motion made by Ben Tefoyato bring Article 13 off the table <br />Presentation given by Peter Hechanb|oiknar, Town Manager - giving an update on the <br />Emergency Meeting of the Board of Ge|enbnmn prior to Town Meeting - Peter gave on update on <br />the Boil Water issued by the yNVVRA <br />Moderator, Akan Fou|de excused himself to due to possible conflict of interest, ownership of <br />restaurant in Reading. Town Ckark, Laura Gennme requested nominations for an Acting <br />Moderator; Ben Tafoya nominated Paul Dustin. <br />Motion for Paul Dustin to act as Moderator Carried <br />ARTICLE 13 — On motion by George Hines, Chairman of the Finance Comnittee, it was voted to <br />accept the provisions of Massachusetts General Lawn Chapter 64L, § 2(a) to impose a local <br />sales tax upon the sale of restaurant meals originating within the Town by vendor atthe rate of <br />.75 percent of the 0rnoo receipts of the vendor from the ooie of restaurant meals to byba effect <br />July 1.2O1O, <br />Presentations given byK8emia West and Barry Berman <br />FinCom Report given by Barry Berman in support U-1-0 <br />(/ <br />Bylaw Committee Report given by Philip Pacino - Bylaw Committee does not support Article 13 <br />School Committee Report given by Charles Robinson - School Committee unanimous supports <br />Article 13 <br />After some discussion a Motion was made by Frank Driscoll, Precinct 3 to move the question <br />2/3 Vote required <br />32 Voted in the affirmative <br />117 Voted in the negative <br />Motion to move the Question Does Not Car[y <br />After some discussion a Motion was made by Nancy Graham, Precinct 4 to move the question <br />2/3 Vote required <br />125 Voted in the affirmative <br />19 Voted in the negative <br />Motion to move the Question Carries <br />Motion made bv Bill Brown, Precinct 8for a Roll Call Count -2U votes for Roll Call Count must bm <br />present -21 voted for Roll Call <br />Motion for Roll Call Vote Carried <br />Annual Town Meeting <br />April 2Q.2U1O <br />
