Special Town Meeting, September 27, 1948 <br />e~ <br />SPECIAL TOWN MEETING <br />Security Hall September 27, 1948 <br />In the absence of the Moderators the Town Clerk, Guy W. Ellison, <br />called the meeting to order at 8 o1clock and asked for nominations <br />for a moderator to act at this meeting.' <br />Charles E. Wilkinson moved that Samuel H. Davis be named moderator <br />to act at this meeting. The nomination was seconded by Kenneth C. _ <br />Latham. <br />On motion of Charles E. Wilkinson it was voted that nominations <br />be closed. <br />On motion of Charles E. Wilkinson it was voted that the Town <br />Clerk be instructed to east one ballot for Samuel H. Davis for <br />moderator to act at this meeting. <br />The Town Clerk then cast one ballot for Mr. Davis. <br />The Town Clerk then administered the qualifying oath to Mr. Davis. <br />Article 1. On motion of Charles E. Wilkinson it was voted that <br />Article 1 be laid on the table. <br />Article 2. On motion of Harold W. Putnam it was voted that the <br />sum of Four Thousand Five Hundred ($4,500) Dollars be"appropriated <br />by transferring said sum from the eater Available Surplus to the Water <br />Department Account for materials and expenses and the Town Accountant <br />be and he hereby is authorized and instructed to transfer said sum <br />to said account. <br />Article 3. On motion of Harold W. Putnam it was voted that the <br />sum of Twenty-five Thousand 025,000) Dollars be raised and approp- <br />riated for the purpost of laying Water Mains of not less than six <br />(6) inches but less than sixteen (16) inches in diameter and for the <br />development of additional Wells including Suction Mains of irtiich sum <br />Ten Thousand (410,000) Dollars is for salaries and Fifteen Thousand <br />($15,000) Dollars is for materials and expenses, and to meet said <br />appropriation the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen be, <br />and he hereby is authorized to borrow Twenty-five Thousand (:25,000) <br />Dollars under authority of Chapter 44 of the General Laws and to <br />issue bonds or notes of the Town, therefor, payable in not more than <br />ten (10) years from the date thereof or at such earlier date as the <br />Treasurer and Selectmen may determine. <br />100 voted in`the affirmative. 0 voted in the negative. <br />Article 4. On motion of Harold W. Putnam it was voted that the <br />sum of Six Hundred ("$600) Dollars be appropriated by transferring <br />said sum from the unexpended balance in the Old Age Assistance Account <br />to the Maintenance of Dumps Account for salaries and the Torn Accountant <br />be and he hereby is authorized and instructed to transfer said sum <br />to said account. <br />Article 5. On motion of Harold W. Putnam it was voted that <br />the sum of Three Thousand Five Hundred ('3,500) Dollars be appropriated <br />by transferring said sum from the Road Machinery Fund to the Load <br />Machinery Operating Account for materials and expenses and that the <br />Town Accountant be and he hereby is authorized and instructed to <br />transfer said sum to said account. <br />Article 6. On motion of Harold W. Putnam it was voted that the <br />sum of Two Thousand (~>2)000) Dollars be appropriated as follows, One <br />Thousand 01,000) Dollars from the unexpended balance in the Garbage <br />Collection Account and One Thousand ($lpOOO) Dollars from the un- <br />expended blanace in the Old Age Assistance Account and transfer said <br />sums to the Snow and Ice Account for materials and expenses and the <br />Town Accountant be and he hereby is authorized to transfer said sums <br />to said account. <br />
