MASS. <br />Board of Health Nib MAY 23 A 0 5b <br />Date: 2016 -04 -27 Time: 530 PM <br />Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Berger Room <br />Address: 16 Lowell Street <br />Purpose: General Business Session: General Session <br />Attendees: Members - Present: <br />Andrew Friedmann, Nancy Docktor, Elizabeth Shurland <br />Members - Not Present: <br />Others Present: <br />Steven DiLauro, Staff, <br />Maureen Buzby, Tobacco Control <br />Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Darlene Foley <br />Topics of Discussion: <br />Board of Health meeting came to order at 5:35 pm on April 27, 2016 in the Berger Room of <br />Reading Town Hall. <br />Minutes <br />Minutes of March 23, 2016 were presented. Docktor made motion to accept, seconded by <br />Shurland. Motion passed 3:0 <br />Monthly Reports <br />A successful game night was held March 24, 2016 at the Pleasant Street Center with four <br />enthusiastic participants. Library personnel were in attendance. Friedmann will contact <br />participants to see if there is an interest in future game nights. DiLauro suggested better <br />promotion may be beneficial to attract more participants. <br />DiLauro attended DPH conference regarding medical marijuana. He has been researching <br />the possibility of having a mobile blood drive in the future. He advised that Portland Pie <br />ceased operation April 15, 2016 and the ownership of Pizza World is in the process of being <br />sold. The public health nurse applied for a grant from the Melanoma Foundation for free <br />sunscreen dispensers and received notification that two dispensers would be awarded to the <br />town. The Recreation Department will assist in determining the best locations for the <br />dispensers and will also contribute to maintaining the supply of sunscreen. Chief Mark <br />Segalla has been invited to attend next month's meeting to discuss animal control. Jean <br />Delios expressed an interest in attending a meeting to learn about what's happening in <br />public health and what the planning /zoning department has to offer in the future. <br />Page I 1 <br />
