Meade made motion to approve, seconded by <br />Singer. Motion passed 3:0. <br />Public Hearing - Reading Quick Stop <br />Buzby advised this was the second violation for selling tobacco to a minor within 36 months. <br />The first violation occurred when the minimum age for tobacco sales was 18. When <br />underage compliance checks are performed, all purchasers under the age of 27 years must <br />be carded. She clarified that Donald Dewar is the owner of the establishment, Daniel <br />Dewar, who is present, acts as the manager. <br />Daniel Dewar stated he takes the issue very seriously. Both violations occurred when he <br />was not on duty. He does provide training for new employees. He inquired if there could be <br />any leniency as the 7 day suspension would incur a great loss of revenue. Friedmann stated <br />the regulation does not leave any wiggle room as it states the permit shall be suspended for <br />seven consecutive business days and all tobacco products and nicotine delivery products <br />shall be removed from the establishment upon suspension. Dewar requested if the <br />suspension period could be July 51h -July lit". Meade made a motion to suspend the permit <br />for the period of July 5th -July 110, all tobacco and nicotine delivery products must be <br />removed from the storefront, and the machinery had to be covered. Motion was seconded <br />by Singer; motion passed 3:0. <br />Update to Regulation Section 20 Enforcement and Penalties <br />Erickson presented update. After discussion, Friedmann suggested deleting "and Town of <br />Reading By -laws Section 1.8" from Section 20.2. Meade made motion to update regulation <br />with that change, seconded by Singer.
