Quinn, Jr.
Topics of Discussion:
CALL to ORDER:
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7 PM. The Board last met on July 9, 2013.
This meeting was originally posted for October 8, 2013 but was cancelled due to the lack of
a quorum.
1. APPOINTMENTS: -
Reading Town Manager Bob LeLacheur dropped by. He informed the Board that he has
discussed the existing cost sharing agreement relative to Mr. Santaniello's services with
Stephen Maio, Wakefield's Town Administrator. LeLacheur said that he and Maio are both
very pleased with the way the cost sharing arrangement has worked to date and would now
like to extend it for one additional year, through December 31, 2014. The Board voiced no
objections to the proposed extension.
Melrose has not shown any interest in participating in an expanded cost sharing
arrangement with Reading and Wakefield.
Mr. LeLacheur announced that the traditional "preview" of the Tax Classification Hearing has
been rescheduled from October 22nd to the Board of Selectmen's meeting on November
5th. The actual Tax Classification Hearing will most likely be held on November 26th. In
any event, the Tax Classification Hearing must be held no later than December 10th in order
to get the FY 2014 tax bills out on time. LeLacheur feels that the Selectmen will probably
vote to keep the status quo, including the retention of a single tax rate.
Page I 1
