READING SCHOOL COMMITTEE MINUTES JULY 2, 1984 <br />Call to Order <br />Chairman Coco called a regular meeting of the Reading School Committee to order on <br />July 2, 1984, at 6:30 p.m., in the Central Office Conference Room. All members <br />were present, however, Mr. Allen arrived at 6:50 p.m., and Mr. MacDonald left at <br />7:00 p.m. Also present were Assistant Superintendents Dr. Munnelly and Mr. Winslow. <br />There were two visitors present, Mr. Frank Gorgone of the Finance Committee and <br />Mrs. Gina Healy, Head of the Foreign Language Department. <br />Approval of Minutes of June 11 and 20, 1984 <br />On a motion by Mr. Nigro, seconded by Mr. MacDonald, the minutes of June 11 and 20, <br />1984 were unanimously approved. <br />Bills and Payrolls <br />Warrants for bills and payrolls were approved as follows: <br />Bills <br />June 22, 1984 - General Expense - $76,367.87 <br />June 29, 1984 - General Expense - $36,945.75 <br />June 30, 1984 - General Expense - $41,793.25 <br />Payrolls <br />June 22, 1984 - Teachers - $1,173,003.84 <br />June 22, 1984 - Weekly - $40,659.72 <br />June 29, 1984 - Weekly - $42,766.86 <br />July 6, 1984 - Weekly - $16,560.42 <br />Citizens' Input <br />There was no citizens' input. <br />Announcements <br />Before commencing with the regular agenda Chairman Coco announced that he had received <br />a petition signed by approximately 30 parents of children who will be attending <br />Coolidge Middle School in September, requesting that their children be bussed even <br />though they live within the two -mile limit The petition cited lack of sidewalks as <br />a safety hazard. The Chairman said they would be notified that their request will <br />be an agenda item at the next School Committee meeting, to be held July 30th. <br />Dr. Munnelly made note of a book entitled "Upside Down Rainbows," containing writ- <br />ings and art work of Pearl Street School students. Funds for publishing the book <br />were provided by the PTA of that School. <br />Statement <br />Chairman Coco announced that he would not seek a second term as Chairman of the <br />School Committee. He said he had enjoyed the privilege of being Chairman for the <br />
