259 <br /> 1 READING PUBLIC SCHOOLS <br /> Reading, Massachusetts <br /> SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> MINUTES JUNE 17 , 1986 <br /> Call to Order <br /> Chairman Cliff Allen called the regular meeting of the Reading School <br /> Committee to order at 7:35 p.m. on June 17, 1986 in the <br /> Superintendent' s Conference Room at 34 Gould Street. All members of <br /> the School Committee were present. Others in attendance were <br /> Superintendent, Dr. Robert S. Wells, Asst. Superintendent, Dr. Robert <br /> Munnelly, Assistant Superintendent in Charge of Business, Mr. Ronald <br /> Winslow, Sue Wheltle , Director of Art, Dr. Wellington and Beth <br /> Montillio , Director, of the Red Sneakers School, parents , and a <br /> reporter from the Daily Times-Chronicle. <br /> Announcement <br /> Mr . Cliff Allen made the announcement that at the June 2nd School <br /> Committee meeting, a contract had been ratified between the Reading <br /> School Committee and the Reading Association of Secretaries & Clerks <br /> which called for a 5% wage increase, retroactive to July 1, 1985 and <br /> expiring on June 30 , 1986 . <br /> Approval of Minutes of June 2, 1986 <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Nissen, seconded by Mrs . Philbrick to <br /> approve the Minutes of the Meeting of June 2 , 1986 and the vote was <br /> unanimous. <br /> Bills and Payrolls <br /> Warrants for bills and payrolls were approved as follows : <br /> Bills <br /> June 13, 1986 - General Expense - $56, 651. 14 <br /> June 20 , 1986 - General Expense - 52,354.27 <br /> Payrolls <br /> June 19, 1986 - Teachers - $1,132, 396.48 <br /> June 13, 1986 Weekly - 29, 286.15 <br /> June 20 , 1986 - Weekly - 42,084. 82 <br /> Citizens ' Input <br /> Mrs . Kendra Cooper, a parent, asked to be recognized and questioned <br /> the reason or background for the administration' s refusal to allow <br /> her to get a copy of the Minutes of the Meeting held on June 2, 1986. <br /> Mr. Cliff Allen, stated that Ted Cohen, Town Counsel, had advised the <br /> School Committee that it was not necessary to release the Minutes to <br />
