READING SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />SPECIAL SESSION MINUTES <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />MAY 22, 1989 <br />Chairman George Shannon called the special meeting of the Reading <br />School Committee to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Focus Area at <br />Reading Memorial High School. All members were present. Also <br />present were Superintendent Robert J. Munnelly, Assistant Superin- <br />tendents Lynn M. Bak and Ronald A. Winslow. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Carol Lyons moved to approve the minutes from the May 2, 1989 <br />meeting. Barbara Philbrick seconded the motion. The vote was <br />unanimous. <br />APPROVAL OF BILLS AND PAYROLLS <br />No bills or payrolls submitted. <br />CITIZEN'S INPUT <br />No citizens input. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />KILLAM CARNEGIE PLANING DAY - CALENDAR WAIVER <br />In accepting the Carnegie Study responsibility, the Superintendent <br />and School Committee acknowledged that the Carnegie restructuring <br />may mean some differences between Killam and other schools. <br />In light of the project, the Killam Carnegie Teams requested a <br />calendar change for the school year to carry out an all staff and <br />parent "summation" day on June 7th. <br />Stan Nissen moved the reduction of one student day for Killam <br />School for the 1988 -89 school year in order to carry out Carnegie <br />Study commitment. Margaret Cowell seconded the motion The vote <br />was unanimous. <br />The School Committee wished to thank the Reading Teacher's Asso- <br />ciation for their cooperation. <br />
