x <br />FINCOM Appointment Committee Meeting <br />September 13, 2011 <br />The meeting convened at 7:00 pm in the Conference Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, <br />Massachusetts. Present were Committee members Alan Foulds, Marsie West and Camille <br />Anthony as well as Marie Ferrari, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and Assistant <br />Town Manager/Finance Director Bob LeLacheur. <br />Alan Foulds called the Committee to order at 7:00 pm. He said that the remainder of a <br />three -year term (until 2013) on FINCOM was open, and he asked Marie Ferrari to state <br />her qualifications and reasons she was interested in the appointment. <br />Ms. Ferrari described her background as a 35 -year Reading resident with fifteen years of <br />experience as the Assistant Superintendent in the Somerville school system where she <br />was responsible for the budget. In addition, she served as Reading's School Committee <br />representative to the Northeast Metro Vocational school in Wakefield, where she also <br />chaired the Budget subcommittee. <br />Ms. West asked if she would have any problems in being the sole opinion of nine on one <br />side of any issue. Ms. Ferrari stated that she would not have the slightest difficulty with <br />that situation. Ms. Anthony asked her about the time commitment and FINCOM <br />schedule. Ms. Ferrari said she was familiar with the Wednesday meeting schedule and <br />had looked at the FINCOM website for other information. Mr. Foulds asked if she had <br />any known conflicts or served on any other Boards, Committees or Commissions. Ms. <br />Ferrari replied in the negative to both questions. Mr. Hechenbleikner spoke favorably <br />about Ms. Ferrari's time at the Voke school. <br />On motion by Ms. Anthony seconded by Ms. West, the FINCOM Appointment <br />Committee voted 3 -0 -0 to appoint Marie Ferrari to the remainder of a FINCOM <br />term that expires in 2013. <br />Ms. Ferrari asked about the reappointment process, and Mr. Hechenbleikner said the <br />Town sends out reminders for volunteers to be able to express their continued interest. <br />On a motion by Ms. West seconded by Ms. Anthony, the FINCOM Appointment <br />Committee voted 3 -0 -0 to adiourn at 7:15pm. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Secretary <br />
